AN ODE TO ROCKSBERG
BY THE STROKER

WEATHER IS GREAT IN THE SUNSHINE STATE
AND THERE’S FINALLY A BREAK IN THE RAIN
TIME TO GET THE BIKES OUT OF THE SHED AND
HEAD DOWN TO ROCKSBERG AGAIN

FRIDAY IS FLAT OUT TO GET DOWN THERE EARLY
SO WE CAN FINISH OUR WORK ON THE LOOP
CHARGE THROUGH THE LONG GRASS AND ON UP THE HILL
AND TRY TO DODGE THE COW POOP.

WE CRASH THROUGH THE JUNGLE AND SLASH DOWN THE WEEDS
TO MAKE A PATH FOR THE QUAD
IF THIS THING GETS TROUGH AND ROUND THE WHOLE TRACK,
THERE MIGHT BE HOPE FOR THE “IT” MOB

MOTOCROSS TRACK IS SLASHED AND MARKED OUT
WITH STRAIGHTS AND CORNERS AND BUMPS
AND BITS OF THE TRACK CHARGE THROUGH THE GULLY
THAT THOSE WITH BIG BALLS CAN JUMP

FRIDAY ARVO AND THE SUN GOES DOWN
AND THE BEERS ARE WELL EARNT AND COLD
THE BOYS FROM NEW SOUTH HAVE MADE THE TRIP UP
BUT OBVIOUSLY CAN’T GO WHERE THEIR TOLD

SATURDAY MORNING AND THE RAIN IS ALL GONE
AND THE VEHICLES ARRIVE DOWN THE ROAD
THERE'S TRAILERS AND UTES AND VANS WITH V8S
AND THEY ALL SETTLE IN AND UNLOAD

BRIEFING IS DONE WITH A MINIMUM OF FUSS
AS THE OFFICIALS TRY TO COVER ALL THINGS
BUT AS WE KNOW, ALL THE TALKING IN THE WORLD
WONT HELP IF IT’S YOUR BRAIN YOU’VE FORGOTTEN TO BRING

RIDE TIME NOW AND WE ARE OUT IN THE BUSH
RACING ALL THROUGH THE LONG GRASS
STYLING IT UP AND PASSING THE “IT’S”
BUT NEXT CORNER I’M DOWN ON MY ASS

NO HARM DONE SO I'M BACK ON THE BIKE
CHARGING ON HARD UP THE HILL
THIRD AND FORTH GEAR ALONG THE RIDGE LINE
THEN I SMELL THE DEAD COW IS THERE STILL

BACK DOWN HILL AND OVER THE JUMPS
AND FINISH UP BACK IN THE PITS
EVERYONE IS SMILING AND TALKING ABOUT FUN
LOOKS LIKE THE TRACK IS A HIT

RIDE HARD ALL DAY VINDURO AND TRACK
THEN TIME FOR A FEED AND SOME BEERS
LOTS OF GRINS AND LAUGHTER ABOUT
SOME SAY THE MOST FUN FOR YEARS

FIRE HOPPING IS ALWAYS THE GO
SATURDAY NIGHT IN THE WIND WAS GOOD FUN
ALTHOUGH SOME CRASHED EARLY AND GOT SOME SLEEP
OTHERS STAYED UP ON THE RUM

THE DECISION :) WHILE PISSED TO SWING ON A SIDE CAR
WAS FOLLOWED THROUGH THE NEXT DAY
THOUGH AFTER ONE LAP OUR GOOD MATE FELT SICK
I THINK I’M GUNNA SPEW WAS ALL HE COULD SAY

THE BIKES BACK ON THE TRAILERS AND RACING ALL DONE
SORE MUSCLES FROM RACING ALL DAY
SMILES AND BRUISES AND BROKEN BIKES BITS
I KNOW I’LL BE BACK NEXT QVMX RACE DAY.
