VIPER Rd one Monza Park
« on: April 25, 2012, 09:37:33 am »
If you're concerned about the weather for the first round of Viper at Monza Park this weekend then don't be. The heavy rain has gone and just a few showers 'till Saturday then nothing Sunday (perhaps even sunny).
Nothing like the bad conditions of last year. The track will be perfect! ;)

Sunday mostly sunny. 10% chance of rail, less than 1mm. Top of 15.
The moons must be aligned because these are the best conditions you can get to race on this great track. Knowing Neale the track will be groomed within an inch of its life.

We can only hope Ross.. I walked the track on the Saturday night and the Sunday morning last year and it was absolutely perfect, then 8.30 came and it belted down for half an hour and that was the end of it...

Track was fanatic, jumps were big and I had some great dices with Bill Edwards and Michael Brockley (both of whom have been absent for some time). It was great to see them again (and of course my old mate Henry Lathem who musta been riding about six classes :P.)

Unfortunately the day was marred with Rob Kent being Ambulanced away with a broken ARM and Graeme Hunter going to the Ballarat Base Hospital with suspected a broken foot. I was looking forward to a year of running with both but doesn't look like it for the next few meets at least.

Pre 85 forty five year + was a well filled class as indeed the new post 90 two-stroke class was well stocked as well. :)

Well done to Rovers for for a great, well run meet and well done to the Viper Commitee. It looks like things are back on track.  ;)

The track was in excellent condition. No dust, not really any mud, just perfect.
Unfortunately I have broken the bottom of my fibula and won't be riding (or doing anything much) for 6 weeks. Up until the moment that happened I was having an absolute blast.
A big cheers to the Viper and Ballarat Rovers committee members and volunteers, and the Red Cross first aid people.
Also Peter Gruber for his extremely generous offer of letting me ride his YZ250G after my Evo bike developed a gearbox problem.
I'd also like to thank everyone who helped me pack up. Thanks Mark and Brendan, really good mates.

Cheers, Grahame

How cool to have a ride again after 12 months away, thanks to Rovers and the new Viper committe for making it happen. Yep, had some great battles with Ross and Graeme, not so cool to see a few nasty injuries though to Rob, Graeme and Mick.

I'm OK, the shoulder popped back in on the drive home. After some Xray's and assessment I have a torn rotator cuff, some bone bruising &  gravel rash. Nothing a bit of R & R won't fix. Wazza's fault, the last 3 times I've raced him I've ended up in hospital! It was a good day for me until the last lap of the last race where it all went to shit. Hope Grahame & Rob can get back later this year.
