lower fork legs

not vmx (yet) but I'm rebuilding a 97 ktm300 and the lower forks legs are a bit stained and manky. Given that they have a textured finish to them I don't want to do the oven cleaner, sand, polish etc. Is there a cleaning product that will tidy them up?
