KX500 1988 For Sale!

Hi everyone,  I have decided that having a lot of motorcycles that I am never going to ride doesn't make any sense whatsoever, so over this year I will be selling some of them.

First up is my 1988 KX500.  I bought it back in 2004 when I was getting interested in riding again.  I rode it once and it's a monster!  It has an FMF pipe on it (I think) and I bought some new plastic and a seat cover to tart it up, but never got around to putting them on.

Overall, I think it's probably just the ticket for someone who wants to race Pre-90, so if someone wants the best 500 ever made  (slight artistic licence) then send me a PM or email.

Well I have now brought the bike out of storage and had a good look at her.  The news is pretty good.  She's basically a very complete KX500 in quite rideable condition.  With some tender loving care, she could even be beautiful... 

In that vein, I searched for the NOS plastic that I had bought for the bike and then took a photo with it.



Yeah, crap iPhone photo, but you get the idea - with very little work this bike would look very nice indeed. 

Close to setting a price now.  Not going to be cheap though, this is a very good example of a fairly sought after bike.

OK, after many discussions with various gurus and some naval gazing, I think I would like to ask $4,250 (or a near offer) for the KX500.

This would include the NOS plastic, a spare seat cover, owner's manual and any other bits and pieces I find that I bought for the bike.

One person who had shown interest has now disappeared, so unless someone on here is interested now, it will go to eBay next week.

I am getting close to listing the KX500 on eBay now.  He's some updated photos of the bike, I have now installed the new plastics.









Price is also now $3,900 or a near offer.

Are you interested in a trade at all? 2001 KTM 520 EXC registered in good nick.. And where are you at? im in Brisbane on the south side.
