I would like to urge all that live in Sydney and have bugger all to do on Sunday to rock out to Nepean and have a look . . .
The whole idea of the Sydney West Series is to raise the profile of Dirt Track in Sydney, strengthen City of Penrith MCC and improve Nepean Raceway both as a facility and its profile within the local community. . . . (over 250,000 people live within 20 minutes of the place and bugger all people know about it).
A lot of work has been put in to the Series, radio coverage/advertising, local paper advertising, promotional posters all over the place, invites have gone out to various recreational Motorcycle Clubs and we will have journo's from local media at the track on Sunday . . . .
I have been told that over 60 entries have been processed thus far (supposedly more than any Penrith or St George day have had before) so riders participation is great . . . but . . . what we really need is a crowd on the hill.
Potential sponsors and media will take motorcycle racing seriously if we can demonstrate that the public take it seriously!
I am a bit sick of hearing that our sport is dying and that someone should fix it . . . I believe that it is up to us all to "fix it".
Clubs need to learn how to promote meetings not just to the racers, but to the public at large. Just as the people involved with both
the Penrith Club and Nepean Raceway are now doing.
So if you have not much to do on Sunday, spend $5 and come out to Nepean, catch up with people you may not have seen for a while,
you might even enjoy it.
