My 81 KLX genuine manual says 308cc=308ml per leg or 220mm from top of inner tube:)

Hi smed or anyone else who may be able to help.
I have measured to the top of the damper rod with compressed forks, it comes to 420mm.
I think the 81 model might be different forks as the 220mm you quoted would make the oil level (I think) too high.
The 79 forks are 35mm od is that the same as 81?

Thanks
DOK

Sorry mate I am no Kawasaki guru,I just happen to have an owners manual, :)Dunno about the different diameters for different year model forks DOK,It seems unusual that if you put in the 308ml that it would be so far out when measured from the top,420 seems too low to me,my parts book says 81-83 KLX250 forks are 36mm, but the aftermarket parts books have been wrong before,Sorry to ask a dumb question but are they the correct forks for the bike :)

hi smed the forks seem genuine but there may be some difference between 79 to 81=83 that was a period of great developement.
what I decided was I would fill fork fully extended and just cover the top of the damper rod.
I put 150ml then added 50 at a time got to 300ml and the damper was just covered.
So perhaps the mls are correct and the mm are dodgy.

Thanks heaps for the help
David
