while ago I had a beer with an august member of these forums and he was a bit taken aback too but old bikes are a really strong glue. So's a love for UK blues.
A few months ago Tim and I spent a very pleasant arvo in the Greengate Pub in Killara where we discoved that despite every social, educational and geographical difference in our past lives, there were an amazing number of shared passions...old bikes and the blues (music, not the footy team) being just a couple.

Tim's a pretty smart cookie but above all he's a bloody good bloke and in this country a man can't ask for a better accolade. I really hope that his situation does a turn around and whoever it is who makes these decisions realises that letting someone with so much to offer go punches another hole in Australia's technological gene pool bucket.

I wish I could do something to help Tim....I really do mate ;).

I didn't want to mention it but I've heard of a Country member, remember.
But August?

Yes, but you will have to supply your own cat and swivel chair…  ;)  just remember that it usually ends in tears

I'm rooted. Visa cancelled.

I wish they would cancel my wife’s Visa card.

No seriously, that’s a real bummer for you Tim. You seem to be getting the run around with work, time to look for another profession maybe?
Another area of what you already do?

Hope things work out for you.

Cancel the wife's Visa card, that's good Geoff, I bet there'd be a que a mile long to do that.
Thanks for the explanation Crankipin, I knew I should've gone to the Funk & Wagnels.
Probably spelt wrong, someone will correct it.
I was born in August, does that mean I'm highly ranked or just rank?
Sorry for the hijack Tim, best of luck.

Lots of replies due:

I have someone in mind. Problem is getting rid of the current wife.

Nah, similar principles (chromaticity) but without any specific experience it's a no-go.

Thaks Lex. Visa has already been extended. I've been looking for job for over a year. I've had a few (very) near misses.

Mark, thaks very much for your words. They mean a hell of lot to me.

Can you slap together a CO2 vaccum and compressor-I think we're going to need a very large, high capacity one very shortly. There will be a vast market for it-but only if it's cheap enough as no Govts got any cash right now.

That's where the system is screwed up, because unskilled people who are very clever at working the welfare system seem to have no trouble staying here.  Not pointing any fingers anywhere but it does seem to exist.

The Kiwis are crying at the moment because they can't afford to keep their "brainiacks" and they are all off OS.
Me thinks leaning on a shovel doing roadworks on the west coast of S.I. would be better than trying to fight for the big dollars in London or New Yuck.
