I suppose you could Graeme but why would you hack up an already well set up motocross bike when you can pick up ready to race Dirt Track TT500's almost on a daily basis on www.vft.org for similar money. I've said it before but the slow down in the U.S.economy has made the market for ready made dirt trackers easily within our reach. Here's a few currently for sale for around 4k, ready to race. You'd be hard pressed to build'em for that money.

Or how about this bargain XL500? Look past the crappy tank and body panels and you'll see a cut and raked frame, decent suspension and wheels and a nicely tricked engine....all for $1200. Add a couple of hundred dollars worth of fibreglass and a lick of paint and you've got a good bargain tracker.

XR500 bored 20 over weisco 12.5-1  piston megacycle 144-20 cam hardface rockers  spring kit new honda valves mild port
polish valve seats cut has the big heavy xl500 flywheel big mikuni round slide 5 hours on motor cerrani tripple clamps
XS650 forks progressive springs stock frame rear suspension mounts modified sure I'm forgetting stuff bike is fast not
pretty. Near Sioux falls, SD. Could deliver for fee would have to be negot.

 steal it for $1200
