Direct deposit works but if he doesn't have PayPal he's most probably not set up for internet banking either. I've also used bank money orders but it's a pain in tha bum because it takes so long to go to the bank, buy the damn thing, mail it by snail mail and then wait for it to clear. Try asking him if he'd do the PayPal thing if you pay a little extra to cover his fees....it's worked for me.

If you go to your bank you can get them to do a wire transfer. It may depend on who your bank is but mine charges me $33 fee to do the wire transfer. The person at the other end will also get charged a fee at the other end which is taken out of the amount you sent them. Some will grumble and complain that they got less than you sent them but it is the fee from their bank. Some will expect you to pay their bank fee to accept the payment and some accept it as part of the deal. I don’t think that the buyer should have to pay the fee charged to the  seller from his bank. That’s why in most cases paypal is a whole lot better and that’s how I got on to it because wire transfer fees were to expensive for both parties. I only do a few wire transfers these days, mainly to places in Europe that will not accept payment any other way. If you are paying for something expensive like a whole bike then a wire transfer is probably still the best and safest option  because if something goes wrong, they will usually look after you better than paypal.

I have had the same drama brought a couple of bits from marks swap meet and they didnt have pay pal.
I used western money orders costs $42.00  all you need is there name and town , state,
you do it at the post office after you do the paper work they give you a control number about 10 numbers
you just email these numbers to the seller,  then he heads to a western money order outlet with some I.D and  shows the control numbers & he gets his money
easy as that.....done it a few times when they havent got pay pal havent been ripped off yet they seem good in the states
