shocks for a DTI

G'day viewers could some one out there in yamaha land tell me how long the original shocks were for a DT1 center of eye to eye please.jimson

where they the same as the thermals ? about 32-34 or there abouts

our replacement shocks for theDT 1 are 320mm and cost $180 per pair

Walter I've scored some shocks from you with the special you had :) on OZVMX recently but I want to put them on another project I spoke to Fernando today about the ones he sells for the Huskies sounds like dogs  ;D anyway I wanted to tell him the wright length for the DT1 this bike will be raced so I want VMX ones.jimson

Jimson , without interfering to mutch < i hope>  go for the  special E or Z series with the narrow springs and classic valve .They are way up from the" specials"
Thats great that you look after Fernando ,

hey jimson,
i don't know what the std length is but my RT1 {same frame} is using 345mm eye to eye and they feel pretty good. my bike had 365mm shocks when i got it and they felt too long. one thing i will be looking to do in the future is to "drop" the motor in the frame to lower the centre of gravity. i've had a few good rides/1 race meet, on it now and it wants to wallow in the turns. another bike up here in brisbane has had the lowering mod done. if your doing a race bike, might be worth considering.
345mm shocks.

also too! as walter mentioned, use "narrow springs"
 i used 2nd hand shocks with wide springs and had chain clearance issues, so a little widening of my swing arm was required

Fernando should have any lenght in stock for you . 340 or 350 is OK . I spoke to him today about that matter.

Thanks Walter for that. The reason I phoned Fernando is he advertised the shocks in VMX mag for huskies because the chain gets in the way on them as well. Vandy I'm keen to do the frame mods its finding someone local you can trust to do them.jimson

Those classic shocks with offset mounts we designed  purely for CZ (340 MM ) and Huski (360 mm)
In Europe it is also the requirement to have only shocks that are fitted up side down with no visual gasing device or adjusters. (Girling look) But here and in USA the rules are different and you can use the E or Z series with the narrow springs to give you the chain clearance needed.

Walter it must be hard to do a run of shocks because there is so many different model VMX bikes out there catering for them all must be a pain in the ass.jimson

It is challenging , but I look at that way , its a great testing ground for different fittings and configurations. So if we can master this , the scooters and street bikes ( and that is our main market ) is easy. So it is a two way street. We gain allot of experience for production , and VMX gets constant improvements, reliability , and individual customer service  at a reasonable cost .
