Apart from engine number (509 vs 510), I believe they should be the same...

Iainyz, seems like you have both of these bikes, thing is i have recently got myself a bike was supposed to be a yz400c but it has 509 frame and 510 motor- not a bad bike on the whole, funny thing is the eng number is very close to the frame number just the last digit is different apart from the 509, 510 thing.

I'm pretty sure the front engine bracket width is diferent....especially since I have just rewelded a frame that had had the mount cut, I cant remember if it's the top or bottom mount thats a different thickness.....could be wrong though.

All good lads, the engine mount really doesn't matter that much to me, its a bit of a relief that the rest is somewhat the same between the models, still a bit unpleasantly suprised that the whole thing is not YZ400C as advertised. But thats ebay and i have to accept the bad with the good, its all part of the game. Started it up today for the fist time it sounds really strong and quiet in the motor. Fubar noisy at the exhaust but.

The DT400 is wider at the mounts because of rubber bushes, (if that's helpful or asked for :P).

The standard mufler on the 76c was worse than useless once it burned out the packing , You can cut the end cap off repack then reweld . this makes a vast improvement . love to see some photos Oldyzman.

Sorry I'm getting in on this a little late.
I have a 509 Frame race bike and have used both 509 and 510 engines in it.All mounts are the same.
