We didnt win any awards, the Martial arts did though
What a great night, it turned out to be.Those that attended where the lucky ones, with Micheal Dowson as guest speaker-which opened eyes and ear up to the world of speed
MDowson spoke for about 3/4 hour and told us of his racing career, at one stage in the 80's he had to go out and a pick a rider for a racing team. He spotted this rider going flat out down the back straight (It could of been the now closed Bathurst Track? He spoke of many circuits) the rider came to grief at the end of the straight and walked back to the pits injuried.
A few months went by and this bloke returned to racing with as much speed and entusiasm as before. At this point Micheal approached the young rider and asked him if he was serious about his racing. He was. Not long after he was given a hair cut
and met with a syndicate of business men who headed the Camo racing team. After the ususal discussion the deal was done. That young rider was and became our much admired World Title holder Micheal Doohan..
Many stories where told -great night out.
