foot note. i just powdered 3 frames in the last few weeks, what i always hated was the time between blasting and actually getting the colour run as they sat and oxidised before your eye. In the end as i did soem of my own smaller parts and the speedway frame in the ead blaster at home the powder coater ater i told of my concerns gave me a can of CRC Zinc it, (98% zinc) they reckon its not a wet paint and is fine under Powder and also fire inthe oven well. also i asked for it to be thin coat not piled on.
So after i finished all my parts i coated with the zinc from the can ( also acted as a slight filler and rust stopper) also increase galvanic cover and electrikery..... anyway sure as bike bits sat around for a week even though they said it was going to be run that day...... i wasnt fussed so much as i knew i had it covered and it was also inthe warth near there heaters.
Job came back sweet as and i have even taken a few chips out on the weekend ( doh) and all i can see is the cold galv colur not the bare metal so its stopped penitration too, so i have had this protetion while the chip had been missed and after i cleaned the bike i just touched up my chips with standard can paint. perfect.
im sold on this method now, and the PC is thin so it looks like normal paint, but more sturdy and with my underlying rust protector im way in.
