Hello from Louisiana US.
« on: February 28, 2011, 01:09:55 am »
Hello everyone,
Just wanted to write in and tell everyone a little about myself and my sickness for vintage Mini MX bikes. I started racing in 1981 on a 81 RM80 and stopped racing in 92 on a 91 RM250. I had been looking at bikes for years but my parents couldn't afford one. So I started cutting grass at the Carter Plantation Cemetery for 15 bucks a week. The deeper I got in the cemetery the faster I would push the lawn mower, I just knew all those dead people were going to get me. Man that was great money for me back then and would help me get my new dirt bike at the Hammond Suzuki shop. That day finally came when I paid cash for my brand new 1981 RM80 and the sickness began.
I am now 41 and love the Mini MX bikes and want to collect them all. I have a 79 DG Package racer replica being restored now,1980 RM80 mint original condition, 1981 RM80 in need of a restoration. 1980 CR80 Mugen Replica (Johnny O ), & 1981 CR80 that will be a DG Package racer replica. 2- 1981 YZ80's one is an original DG package racer and the other is a as raced condition with hop up parts.
I am always looking for DG parts for mini cycles to fix my bikes. I will be fare with everyone and tell you now that I am not in this to make money, but only to help other vintage enthusiast with the same sickness I have.  Sorry to be so long but wanted to introduce myself. Thanks, Chris Wolf

Hello Chris and welcome. Good to have another mini enthusiast aboard. I can relate to your history in the fact I also mowed grass to buy my RM80B in '77. $2 a yard I was getting and by the time I'd saved the $499 the RM80C was released. I simply could not afford the extra $70 or so ::) In hindsight I didn't miss out on anything except an extra gear as my little B was every bit a match for the C ;) I seem to have reverted back to the smaller capacities and mini's. After spending the past 30 or so years riding and toying with the 400 the mini's and 125's to me feel super feather weight and are a absolute ball to ride..I have to admit due to time/work constraints to ride the 400 anywhere at speed dishes me up a severe working these days and it's now all but resigned to dirt track where my piddly stature isn't thrown around like a rag doll :D My little collection includes RM50N, JR50C, PW50, Italjet M5, '83 XR/YZ80, RM80B (x2), RM80X, RM80Z, RM80D, '78 DS/RM80, TM75L, TS/TM50R and the obligatory 'real' vintage mini with lawnmower engine.  Some pics of your bikes would be nice. I really feel with the amount of mini owners here, the forum could do with a mini section of it's own, will have to ask the Master nicely me thinks ;) cheers Doc

I will add some pictures of the bikes. But I need some help. I am so new I don't know where or how to add them. I will get some picture by the weekend. I am so glad to hear there are a lot of guys collecting mini's on this site. May be we can help with finding parts and just reminisce about the old days. I have been looking for a 1980-81 RM80 DG pipe and silencer and a 80-81 DG swingarm. I found a guy that will remake the swingarm in Australia but he needs an original to duplicate.
