Montesa 250 H7 L/E bearing
« on: August 03, 2011, 08:26:02 am »
Searching for a L/E bearing  - 18 x 22 x 15.5mm. Does anyone know if anything else used such a bearing?

The measurements you give seem unusual 18x22 seem correct but the 15.5 is very narrow. My 250 H7 certainly didn't have that size. It uses the same L/E bearing as all post 76 engines use. The L/E brg for the KTM250/300 2T series all the way to the cuurent model is an exact match for the Montesa VB-VG 250/360/414, H6-360, H7-250/360. You can also get L/E brg from Italikit but these require a  special stepped thrust washer set to be machined up as they are 1mm wider than the originals.

Thanks Greg.
As it had the original piston, I concluded that the bearing was standard too. I was busting a nut to have this bike at Harrow, but it turned to poo on the friday night before the ride. Having clearly stated that I needed stepped thrust washers made some3 weeks prior (and being promised that they were not going to be a problem),I was left dangling when I received the call that "your L/E bearing is too wide..... and I haven't got time to make them!".
Anway, I digress...Thanks for the replacement info, will make it VERY easy to get another when the time comes.

Now that would just be mucking around with perfection for no good reason which of course would be sacrilege  ;D :P :P

Must have a low bar for the definition of perfection ;)

Yes it would've, Lozza - but time constraints prevented me from cracking the thing apart JUST because I didn't have the right L/E bearing.

It is so disappointing to see that there is still a ready supply of uncouth buffoons around who would stoop to quote one sentence of a person’s statement then respond in such a childish manner. At present you barely rate on the FW scale but you are getting there so by all means keep at it as you seems to have untold potential in that area. I am tired of this game now so this will be my last response but feel free to carry on without me.
