RM 125 1976? Restore it or sell onwards?
« on: February 02, 2011, 11:15:11 pm »
Hi everyone. My mate has asked me about his other bike (He also has a RZ500 which I'm restoring at the moment) being this RM 125.

He tells me that it is a 1976 and he used to ride it as a kid. he is not sure if it's worth restoring or selling as it is.

If I could get a rough idea of both prices that would help heaps. I know it's hard with this sort of stuff.

Here's some pictures..

I will go out on a limb and Hazard a guess,
Nicely restored A (not perfect) will sell for $3k incl nice fresh running motor to get it to this point bugdet to spend between $2500 and $5000 depending on whom or what you know.
As is maybe you will get between $800 to $1200.
I have owned 5 x RMA's, gotta luv them they seem so lite, I currently own a 125S and a 125T
Brett
I have a soft spot japanese mxers with aluminium tanks. Two stroke classic Dirt Track...

I know its a different year and it runs well.
The tanks and plastics are all in good nick and the frame could do with powerdercoating  :-X  some dont like this..
A check of rings etc and all could be well. :P But Id still stick with a search here on the forum and that should help with pricing.
It really is in good looking condition..someone might snatch it up for a quick 2k.  :P
Best wish's.
west side
found it  ;D

Basically this bike will stay where it is for a very long time. It would take me years for me to get the owner to make any sort of decision. long story.

If he decided to sell it then i will post it on here or ebay. I highly doubt anything will happen anytime soon. It's sat in his garage for over 25/30 years now so it won't be going anywhere fast.

I'm trying to help him sort out his stuff as he has stuff everywhere that he doesn't use.

If your gonna sell it put it on ebay rather than a forum  ;)

Unfortunatley on a forum you will get a couple of experts telling you its worth a $1.80 because there mate picked one up at a swapmeet for $1.90 with Nos everything and a pair of Joels jocks thrown in .

With ebay you can disregard the comments and set a reserve your mate is happy with  :)

Pfft. I picked up an original RM125S that had been sitting in the owner's poolroom for 30 years. $1.50 AND he threw in all the original riding gear and his old sponsor's trailer...

That IS a nice RM125A tho.
