1974 CR 125 Help
« on: November 09, 2010, 11:22:28 pm »
Looking to replace my Bing 84 with a Mikuni. Does anyone have the right specs for this conversion and jetting specs.

Thanks

G'day mtbrider..back in 1995 when I restored my 1974 125..I contacted SUDCO in the USA about the same subject..here is what they gave me...Oh...I am running a 34mm carb
190 Main
45 Pilot
159 Q-5 needle jet
5FJ9 Needle
3.5 slide
2.0 air jet..

Hope this helps...was pretty spot on for west coast OZ settings..

using a 34 mikini you would have cut the fins on the barrel.

Cut the fins. Yep you are right. But it is a bit worse than that. It is totally unusable. Why do I buy a new Bing at the right price.

Dave...are you intending changing your moniker from Swedish Connection now that you're soon to be disconnected from the marque? ;)

Hahaha Firko ..the question has been asked already  :) ... mtb..I have a 1974 CR 125 and did not have to cut the fins....what manifold do you have....if you have the rubber connection (tube) then it is no probs to fit a Mikuni.... the aircleaner elbow fits no probs...and it runs like a startled turtle.. haha...well ......not that fast..

I have the rubber connection and the carb fits but the choke lever sits nicely between the fins and is useless. So carb useless. How did you fit yours.

Can you take choke lever off and convert to push down / pull up pin? if enough room?

Currently waiting on the Mikuni cable operated choke conversion to come (they are used on snowmobiles apparently). They don't sell any cable with them so will need to rig up my own cable. Currently have a lever and cable from my mountain bike that used to operate the lock out on the rear shock which I need to convert to work the choke. Fun times can't wait to get it together to kick it in the guts to see if it goes.
Then it will be fixing the expected jetting problems.
