Now that those Pirelli's have matured,I would use them on the bike, they should last for years.
Strange but absolutely true story...
A mate bought a brand new MK8 360 Pursang in 1975 and as soon as he got it home he replaced the tyres with Metzlers and put the Pirellis aside for some other project, another day. Fifteen years later in 1990 and I'm helping him move house and we dig out the otherwise NOS Pirelli front from that Pursang all those years earlier(the rear had been used on something or other years earlier). I checked out the tyre, found it to be still supple and with no cracks and took it home and fitted it to my DT1 from Hell. That tyre came second in an Aussie Championship in 1995 when it was 20 years old, and believe it or not it is still in use on the front of my 350 Maico to this very day. Darryl Lewis rode the bike to an (almost) pre 70 win at the 2007 Coffs Nats with the tyre still doing its job and reckoned it handled well. The Pirelli veteran last turned a lap at last years HBBB dirt track on the Maico (until it chucked a big end) and is still crack free, supple and holds on really well. Not too shabby for a 35 year old tyre that was a reject even when it was new!
