Gday and happy new year Hardex, yeah it was Rick and I think he raced on and off for another couple of years but he mainly did desert race stuff.

Regards Stan.

Thanks No. 8, (the grinnin' Red lipped Joker from Batman at CD7)

1974 was when the Vic series started heading into overload with regards numbers. (Heats and finals ... and here
you can see they even needed two heats for the juniors!)  With all the C-grade races having to be run on the
Saturdays, to free up Sundays for finals and A-grade action.

I love reading the names in Subbies and Juniors, from where so many pros emerged later.
SUB JUNIORS
Andrew BAILEY is there ... and G ARMSTRONG (the joker, under his dad's number).  The twin-legged ALERS won (no surprise)
but splitting Ronnie DINSDALE to third was young Russell BERGMEIER (from the Wonthaggi sidecar family).  This kid was just as fast a driver
on sidecars later on.   Russell had a thumb missing too.   Think about that, with regards hanging on.

JUNIORS
1st   Rod HUNTER (future legend Pursang pony who left Victoria all too soon to ride British Speedway teams)
2nd  Rob PORTBURY - from Deavon Meadows/Pakenham
3rd  John HUSE - also from Pakenham.   His dad George was a racer back in the day, and ran a bike shop in Packy

125 C GRADE
Our Qlder lunatic mate Dennis Dickman cleaned up in the 125 C grade, but missed a placing in the above Juniors final.
Many of the C-graders would've had their butts thoroughly kicked by the juniors if all were let loose at once.  (I think a few
A-graders would also have been hurried along by these kids)

125 A GRADE
Nice to see Gary FLOOD caning all the jap bikes with his Bultaco

MAICO
Mike LANDMAN (Deavon Meadows/Frankston) is listed on a Maico.  This could be a brief lapse from the
Yamaha camp of his whole 1970s career.  I'm guessing it was about the time he fell out with Geoff Taylor in Dandenong
and before he got picked up Milledge.   I know ML and GT once had an issue with Mike refusing to ride his 125 Yamaha
and riding a 125 Elsinore instead.

Ineresting to see that LAMBERT LEATHERS had a family member there in sponsorship listings

FAMILY OF STAN
And once again, we are deeply indebted to Stan's sister for diligently neatly recording so many race results
right through program (not just Stanley's).   This, in my opinion, is what makes Stan's many posted programs so very
very fascinating.
