Classics @ Canberra Longtrack Club Day
« on: November 15, 2010, 08:38:40 pm »
On Sunday , EA and I went over to Canberra for their final round of DT for the year, it was held on the 600 or so metre Longtrack and 12 riders showed up with a mixture of Classic machinery , they ranged from 18 year old  Jamie , full of youthful exuberance , on an XT 500 to 70 plus year old Barry on an MT250 having his first ride for a long time
The day was overcast with the occasional shower , 84 events all told over 4 rounds. EA was Steward and I did the starts.
The Longtrack was in great shape , some great racing , classics and modern , the water cart was not needed all day courtesy of Huey

Here's a few pit shots

Greg's Maicos

Chris' MXA

Jamie's XT

A few of the lads before practice, Elsie is the cheeky one

The stand-out ride of the day, for me , was Chris #688  MX250A ,working his way through the pack of 500s in the last round to set out after Greg's Maico which was a bit too quick to catch. I forgot to add earlier that I'm biased here, cos the MXA is one of my old bikes !!

A great day under trying conditions, Dusty and Jeremy, outfit #7, had a 60 metre wild mechanical bull ride from the start into the fence , tearing down 5 metres of panelling , and breaking Dusty's left arm in the process. Last reports are that Dusty is doing well

Many thanks to Darylene , Milko , Anthony, Elsie 125 and the rest of the Canberra Dirt Track crew for getting the meeting run under adverse conditions
Foss and EA

Hey Pat, I have bit the bullet and am converting the RM125 to dirt track. Hope to ride a few rounds next year. The little 125 might be a bit off the pace but I reckon I should be able to beat someone! Also working on an 18" wheel for the 05 YZ125 so I can do Over 35s as well... Bring it on!

Please put me in touch with "70+Barry"---we'll run a 70+ class at the Brisbane Nats in June.
