Lifting bikes with under framed exhausts?
« on: December 20, 2010, 11:12:37 pm »
Probably a stupid question for those who've had these bikes for years, but I'm a bit stumped at how to lift a bike off the ground (for the purpose of getting at front and rear wheels) with an exhaust which runs under the frame rails.

Obviously the typical centre stands won't work, either fixed or quick lift versions.

I had thought of modifying a quick lift so that it grabs both rails each side of the exhaust but figured it would be worth seeing what was available off the shelf first.

Whipps made a lift stand to suit downpipe bikes. He used Phippsys Elsinore and my 440 Maico as lab rats to design it. I'm not sure if Whippy's still in business though.
