Reed wins opener in SX

Not a single one here in Oz proud of Chad Reed( or is there some national animosity I am unaware of)-won SX opener. Fastest laps too. It is a long year-and I look for Reed to do well.

I watched the race lap times on amamotocross.com, great ride from Reedy. Seemed to have it all in hand and easily as fast as Stewart. Reed seems very prepared and confident, while I think Stewart will be the one to have to lift his game mentally. I think he settled for second yesterday rather than risk a crash - wise thinking but he might also lose his edge doing that...

What happened to Metcalfe? Did fine in his heat but not so good in the race?

Well done Reardon too, 4th in his debut ride on the SX series.

Yes the captain( that's my daughter, Morgan) and I watched Stewart charge back to 2nd, by lap10 it was clear he would not catch Reed, unless Reed made a big mistake-he did not. Wanted to see a battle for lead-may in Phoenix if Stewart gets a start at all/ That KX looked like the front end was really riding high-maybe a setup expecting mud(extra weight). Still, it seems Stewart's falls are usually related to washing out the front end.

I want to see Townley and Villipoto in SX.

mcfarlane must have his head screwed on this year too as he finished a fine 8th....bit disapointed in metcalfe i really thoght he might have big chance of winning it in the mud...his last win was in the mud in supercross riding for the yamaha of troy team...

Great showing for the aussies. And Im proud as hell! Great to see Daniel have a great solid start to the season. I was told that Metcalfe fell twice. Its a real buzz to see guys you know or have met doing well on the other end of the planet in the premium comp. doing the best sport in the world!

I think Byrne broke his heel and will be out for a while, maybe the whole SX series.

Not too sure about the Stewart thing - I don't doubt he's injured that knee, but I think Reed has his measure this year. Chad is right on it and very confident while I think Stewart needs to get his head together. Or put another way, Stewart will have a tough job getting back to where he feels confident enough to keep a series together.

But it's a real shame, I'd really like to have seen them both fit for the series, it would have been a brilliant thing to see.

Chad's championship? I think so...

i'm all for Chad to take this thing again!
but agree it's a shame stewart couldn't hang around for a bit longer,
i'm looking for Langston to come on song... probably a few more races before he finds his stride i reckon...

Just been reading the forums and blogs and there's a bit of a murmur that there may be some problems between the parties - Stewart, Monster and Kawasaki. Don't know the truth of it, but it's going to be interesting to see what comes up next. I still think Stewart's words after he pulled out were a bit hollow - he was pushing pretty hard at A1 and Phoenix and I don't know that he was that far off the pace at all. Chad had his measure in my opinion. I read too that Stewart tried a big gap at A2 in practice and that's how he hurt his knee. I'll suggest again that Reed had him rattled and that's why he went for what he couldn't pull off.

There's little doubt Stewart may be the fastest ever, but to be a championship winner you have to be able to be fast and finish. Reed has shown that he can do that. Let's hope he can do it again in 08...
