I dont know about alloy but this steel one came unchromed which allowed us to use a decent chromer here. Also it had the correct size dimples for the badges. You see some guys do horrible jobs of trying to convert A10 tanks into Goldstar tanks and have to convert the sides so they hold the bigger badges. Usual cost these days to resore a chromed tank is roughly about $1000 min. $500 for chrome & some dent repairs & $500 for paint, pin stripes etc. Major tank surgery or special paint colours can make the price go up even more. You can find cheap chromers but the job is usually crap. There are a lot of old british bikes out there (not your std tri/nor/bsa) that are so rare you just have to restore the tank no matter what condition as theres no repros and they are just so rare you cant just go get another one. If they are just painted its not so bad but if its chromed with not much paint, all the metal work has to be really good, theres no cutting corners.
