Pro Fab triple clamps

I've seen these go for $500 in the past. As far as I can see, these are the only pre '75 legal billet triple clamps available. A friend has another set for sale for $400

i had a set off these on my hl 500 .i didnt like them because the fork never seem secure ,there was allways movement/wobble in the front end

That's interesting Paul. There's a set fitted to my 'just arrived' Hindall DT1 but the problem might not be so apparent on a 7" travel bike. I believe they were originally released to cater for racers who weren't happy with the 'tin' triple clamps on the early Huskys. It was an expensive way to solve a problem that didn't really exist and that could have been 'solved' by using readily available Betor or Arces/Ceriani clamps for a quarter of the cost. I suppose you can make the same assumptions about most trick stuff but that doesn't stop us from using them .

I guess you'd notice it more on a big, heavy bike like the HL with long legs.
I bought these just cos they're cool.  And more importantly, legal.

Paul is right, the top triple clamp in his HL was very thin and flimsy with 1 pinch bolt each side and a small clamping surface. I have also read others say that too in various HL articles in magaznes etc about the Profab triples on the HL's

Im surprised that those Profabs are pre 75 legal. Has anyone got a magzine ad for them from back in the day just for my interests sake?.

As a matter of fact I do Leith but I'm too lazy/busy to go through my mags looking for it. If anyone else wants to look I'm fairly sure it's in a New Products section in either Dirt Bike or MXA issues from 1974. They were marketed for Huskys by Pro Circuit so if anyone has an early catalogue from them they should be listed in there.

This has been raised before both here on the forum and in scrutineering and I recall a Husky owner presenting a period magazine showing a bike fitted with Pro Fab trees as evidence of eligibility at a Nats a few years ago.

Copies of these should be legal to but not sure about the off set issue. Would be good to have a CAD drawing made so anyone wishing to make a set could do so.
They would require only 1 pinch bolt on the top clamp and 2 on the bottom , 2 pinch bolts on the top wouldn't be legal.

No Freaky, it would have to be a Profab part that was for sale in earlier than Dec 31st 1974. For example a Profab swing arm built for a 1976 TT500 would not be legal for use on a 74 yamaha or something else not that anyone would try to i dont think, but i was just trying to make an example. if Profab built it before 1975 and you could buy one at your local shop before 75 then you can use it in Pre 75 as long as you can prove it was available then.
