Husky 390 WR
« on: January 15, 2008, 06:32:17 am »
I finnished restoring this Husky over a year ago, it was poked, it had not been run for over 25 years. i had intended to leave it as my queen however I recently had my arse kicked in a pre 80 vintage race on my 1978 Honda cr 250 and I am thinking about racing this 390. It appears that the Husky 390 has a distinct advantage in our pre 80 class and I am a big guy over 105 kg and the extra 140 cc could greatly help. Any suggestions in terms of race set up? Any suggestions re carbs, pipes, reeds etc I need a more competitive bike before end of September 2009. Help

Hi
I have got a few more exotics, including a Bultaco 250 Pursang MK12, KTM Jackpiner, 4x Maico 250 cc (twin and single shock) Suzuli RM 370, Yamaha YZ 490, hUSKY 430. All fully restored. I will place photo's on the web if you are interested.
Thanks

I don't have some of the bikes photographed, I am intending to move my collection into  a warehouse environment - I need space . These are two photo's not previously posted. You will see the photo of the Miaco, unfortunately that is me behind the bike at  our first VMX meeting last year. Shit it was cold on the day. I have run out of space recently. I will photograph the Bultaco, Honda, Suzuki and other Maico's shortly. The most amazing of these bikes is probably a 1977 Miaco 250 Magnum.

Thanks for the shots Crabman, nice bikes.

My questions/observations:
Which bloke are you - the one with the hat or the one without?
I haven't seen those Yamaha tank graphics before; but I've been away for a lot of years.
The hill in the background would make for a killer hillclimb...;

I'm waiting on my '78 Magnum to arrive so I'll be interested to see the difference between mine and your '77 Magnum.

I am the good looking guy with the hat, glasses and scars.
You are probably correct re stickers, it has long been my intention to build a copy of the Yamaha ow yz 490 works bike, hence the current stickers have survived.
When I finally get to the job at hand, I will redo the bike in white and will have to get a new white 490 tank and obviously the right plastics. The Yamaha is amazingly strong and its dual leading shoe very impressive relative to the Miaco styled brakes.
I will in due course post a photo of the 250 Maico Magnum

Hey Crabman. I wouldn't mind seeing a photo of your Jackpiner. I've got a 1973 Jackpiner sitting in the shed that I'm going to rebuild one day ::). I've been buying parts that I need. The rear loop has been cut off of the frame so have to fix that before I start ???. Darcy #674
