54M Kickstart Return Spring
« on: September 10, 2010, 02:27:27 PM »
Yeah, me again................  ::)

I got a mixture screw from Bultaco Parts yesterday and dropped it in this morning and gave it a few runs through the gears.
It runs great, but the kckstart return spring broke.
Does anyone know of something that may work in it's place?
I haven't tried Southwest Montesa as yet, just in case it's expensive..................  ;)

I don't know of any other spring you can use in its place. If you're going to buy one, buy three. May not ever need the other two but you're bound to run into someone who does... ;)

* Tip. Don't try and belt the kick-starter off the shaft. There's a tiny 5 cent circlip that holds it in place (probably very worn after all these years) and if it pops off the shaft you'll be splitting the cases to put another one in there.... :-[

Thanks 414. I just found and ordered a couple from Bultaco Parts.  ;D
Only $22.00 each as well, which I thought was pretty good.

Thanks for the advice re. the circlip too. Seems I was lucky as the lever slipped off easily.  :)
