Husky L/E bearing thrust

   Hey fella's,Ive just started putting my 83' 430 top end back together after a rebore and the little end bearing is a very tight fit width wise in the New OS woosner i got for it ,which is narrower across the gap than the original mahle- 23.60mm verses 26.50mm anybody come across this one before? what sort of thrust/clearance is required between bearing and piston if any ?  any help much apreciated

I have fitted a Wossner to my 430. No problems if you use the bearing Wossner provide with the piton kit. Did you get a kit?  The other thing I found is the Wossner allows the wrist pin to be inserted easily by hand whereas the Mahle requires it to be pushed in and removed using a tool as the fit is quite tight. Sounds like you have the wrong bearing.

  Hey pez the bearing is for the 83' 430 from husqvarna parts arizona,it is a shade narrower than the original husky/mahle bearing,its the narrower piston boss's that seem to be the problem,the piston was nos with no bearing ,which i got of a fellow forum member,some suppliers sell the kit without the bearing,it has all the same part # on box as the woosener catalogue, so did woosner  change the bearing  width?,sounds a bit odd .Maybe i can take some off the piston to suit standard bearing i have? how much is the next question? cheers

Something doesnt sound right.

You should use the matching wrist bearing.

all Wossener kits i have used for our huskys arrived complete with the matching wrist pin bearing

Shoeys right - Wossner kits come with bearing and wrist pin always.  Sounds like you have the wrong bearing for sure. Do you have any serial no or part no for your Wossner piston? If so then phone the Wossner distributer in WA (google them) and see if they can supply you the correct bearing. Otherwise go back to Philip at Husqvarna-parts and tell him the problem. He will probably be happy to sort it out readily. I wouldn't machine the piston - you will have an oddball size should anything happen in the future etc. Let us know what happens

   Ive just spoken again to woosner WA,and their bearing (which come's in kit) is narrower at  18x22x22 instead of 18x22 x 23.60 for the original husqvarna ! dont you just love it when they take it on themselves to change diamentions for no apparent reason or gain?, at 22 mm wide it's the same width as the rod ,(is that right ? )

Yep Wossner aren't making Mahle copies.  You cant mix and match pistons, wrist pins or bearings as you have discovered  . Glad you have got is sussed

   The plot thicken's ! ive just spoken to phillip at  hus parts and all his woosners measure at 25mm at the boss's-mine is 23.60 and slightly wedged/tighter at top,the bearing i was told to use (and ordered)by aus woosner agent is 22mm which he said is in his 430 kits and is according to phillip is for 390's and 250's with thrust washer's ::)back to square one. it looks like i'll have to take around 0.8mm off each boss! do any of you guy's remember roughly what sort of clearance/thrust you had there if any and what bearing ,flush with rod or not , with/without washers,? i dont suppose the clearance is too critical as long as it's not tight   cheers

    for anybody that may be interested or the record the latest email from phillip is take the piston boss's out to 25.25mm to suit the the original bearing (23.60) he's had to do this before, make's you wonder where the 22mm kit bearing come's from (thats over 3mm side play as oposed to 1.4-1.6) i'am no mechanic but sounds like a lot to me    I'll get there
