ANOTHER SYDNEY BIKE SHOP CLOSES

Cycle City Yamaha at Taren Point closed today, it went bankrupt, not impressed as I had payed for parts on back order, looks like I may have lost a few hundred $$$$, will have to wait and see what happens >:(

Don't quote me ::), but I think sales were down 20% last year and are down 12% for the first half of this year.

We can probably expect further closures  :P.

MOst bike shops are on factory floor plans to so they have to order stock to get it, but as soon as the bikes land they are prity much paying for them when they hit the warehouse. 

Either way they pay for it if it wont sell, or pay for it cause they didnt order the stock to be able to sell it.  BAck in 1976 Pitmans at its highs was selling 500 YZ80's per month, today they are lucky to move 20 new under 125's.

The industry is shrinking and little sales are new bike placements so they have to also deal with trade ins etc.

the only money is in the mark ups on parts, clothing and them stupid peaked caps and stickers  ::)
