760 Maico
« on: June 09, 2010, 10:12:54 pm »
Supposed to be the biggest single cylinder 2 stroke ever made and raced, got between 15 and 25 MPG (handy)
Used a bucket for a piston ( Porsche industrial piston) , at 1200 rpm making 26 hp. Max 4000 rpm making 43 hp
Standard 490 conrod and crank, 250 gearbox, 1981 mega 2 frame. Weighs only 10 lb more than a 490.

Sorry if photo is slow to load having problems with photobucket.

Great bike ,great article. I was reading the test on this in Dirt Bike, Amazing. They claim there was more power in that motor but the gearbox just wouldn't stand up to the job. What an awesome piece of machinery.

The tests say it redefines flat power spread like a farm tractor, not sure it would agree with me.

I posted this report because I read it when I was young and wondered what it would be like to ride.
Now I am old and am still wondering.
Oh for the chance to ride that. :)
