Tim what do modern sidecars have to do with VMX racing ? Classic sidecars race with classics VMX and on purposely designed tracks and should also be part of the classic titles.

Moderns race with the moderns and their specific designed tracks. So why try to bastardize the good old VMX scene with this ASA stuff .

I know where you are coming from Tim. I know you mean well . But throwing it all in one heap will not work in the long term. I know , you will get an increase in numbers for a short time, but in the end it will work for nobody. You are kidding yourself when you think that is great to see all sidecars racing together.
Why not ad all the speedway and roadrace sidecars too? Perhaps throw in a few Quads and rideon mowers that will increase the numbers too for a short while. VMX is not just burning fuel at all cost , it is about preserving an era ,  thats the way I look at it. Or am I wrong ? There are a few people that parked they're treasures until people see clear again.

I have noticed that some guys just want to run this class or that class since I've been back, just so they have a better chance of winning a title or two.
When they don't win as they like they protest for this reason or that and when they don't get their way they get the shits and go home.
Let's just race our bikes and have fun-that's what it's all about, shit there is no sheep stations up for grabs, if you want to race for them put a team together and go to Europe or the US and have a real bash. Put up or shut up.

As far as ASA goes, they do what's right for sidecar motocross here in Aust. They want to build up the sport and get rides for the kids, put our sports future together and encourage younger riders and passengers to push theselves to go overseas- we can be as fast or as slow as we like, but it's the kids that will go on to be tomorrows teams. So give them a bloody place to ride and give them all the help they need- Christ, one of the best things to happen to me was at Warrnambool this year when I asked a little fella if he wanted any tips on swinging in the next race, and he said "no thanks-I've been this for a year or so now!!" Enough Said.

Can sombody explain who is ASA. I have only been involved with solo & quite dumb to chairs organisation. What is the go with Jnrs in the sport. More info please.

In short, ASA(Aust Sidecar Assoc. ) was set up with the interest of off road type sidecars all over Aust. in mind to ensure thet are treated as equals and not some bunch of misfits (which every solo rider feels we are)
Based in Sth Oz, you can find them by googling Sidecar cross.com and follow the links. While you are there check out some photos of world championship sidecar cross(Kegums in Latvia is good).
These guys are all for the growth of our sport as a whole, not just oldies/VMX but right across the spectrum from peewees, minis, juniors, pre 65,75 & 85  modern A & B grade and enduro or Trials outfits.
They hold events down south and have 1 big bash each year call the sidecar spectacular. This yr we had 84 sidecars of all types at Warrnambool for a whole week end of racing and we had a ball mixing with like minded souls on and off the track.
ASA is currently negotiating with MA to allow juniors to race along with the senior sidecars at the modern nationals. Only right really especially if we want drivers and/or passengers to go on to attack the world champs.
The club is very financial and can assist teams to go to SA or OS for races. Or for that matter if we want to have a Spectacular in Qld they will help.

What about NSW

NSW fas always been the odd one out for some reason. Sidecars there are run under the speedway act and therefore can only run on fully fenced tracks or showgrounds. We have run titles there back in the day with rides at Raymond Tce('86) and Woolygong(88)
Ant Gunters brother Terry was their best exponent and at the moment NSW has our only international in Clint Grabham who is currently in the UK doing the Ken Hall Classic this weekend.
At 35 Clint is still a very quick driver but will find his work cut out with the moderns in England.

Just dicovered by my last post , that obtaining a new tank and front end is nearly impossible . So we decided to make a mould and jig to replicate . Anyone one interested please let me know , there will only be one run. Tank with taps and blauring cap will be $650.00
Complet fork and swingarm  made from 4140 aircraft steel  and chromeplated  will be $1200.00

Wasp what are you making it for--have you posted in the wrong spot...

Alison the tank and front end will be exact replicas of the 84 EML . 83 is different and 85 is different again. Yes it will be as the word says , REPLICAS.  That means exactly the the same . I tried in Europe  and here . Its all gone . I my view the 84 EML was the nicest sidecar ever built. Anyone thats in need of one , now is the time . I will not make it again, it cost to much time to make one ofs.

Up untill ayear ago I had never had anything to do with 3 wheels, tried swinging couldnt do it, so I built one to ride. In the last year I.ve met some bloody top people who helped me out no end, I'm a shit rider but its fun. Now my Daughter wants to have ago, and I think EML's daughter wants to have a go as her passenger, how goods that!!! The thing is this fellas, a rides a ride and so long as its fun who cares, if you want to sit around typing politicial shit on a computer, spend your money on building a time machine and go back to the eighties,its over its gone, classic's is classic's modern's is modern's and most of all fun is fun, theres a place for everything and a bum for its seat

Who would like to see Walter bring out his Eml Jumbo to Classic Dirt seven? I know its post 85 but it is a pretty rare sidecar 
even if he cant ride it it would be nice to have a look at.

Funny that I saw and rode a lot of Suzukis there last year that looked and felt like a modern bike, should'nt keep that wonderful bit of engineering locked up in the cellar.
