Headlight/number plate
« on: November 06, 2007, 07:42:19 pm »
I'm after an old style headlight/number plate combo, simillar to a Preston Petty or such.

I've decided to punish myself further by building an XT500 Vinduro bike so it's to go on that.

Thanks

Brent

sounds like a cool project!!!!. check out ebay. the Petty ones are always on there. there must of been the Petty ones and Taiwainese copies as i have a white on that doesnt have the PP logo. be prepared to pay about $300 AU if you want a NOS yellow one though. im sure some guys on this forum will have one for you though. see if you can get one with the black brackets that clamp to the forks. this was an updated design from the late 70's instead of just zip tying the light to the forks

ahh just remembered when i was typing this, you can buy new Petty lights here! -http://www.strictlyhodaka.com/prestonpetty.html better than stuffing aroound and sanding back an old one

Thanks for that LWC, Doc's put me onto one on ebay already so I'll keep an eye on it.
I'm not after an original, just something that looks pretty right.

just looking thru some early 80's ADB's today and everyone had them. for sure you can paint them, they dont flex so no flex additive is needed. you would probaly want to remove the gloss by sanding and use a plastic primer though. ive also got a different type of petty light that has a squarish front plate that is vented!
