Hi fellas I have just acquired my first honda since selling my honda dream 250 sports in the early 1970's.   It appears to be a 1974 model TL125 trials, its a bit rough the tank has dents, the seat is torn, and the front forks are pitted but it is about 36 years old and its almost complete (missing the cover from the front chain sprocket).  If anyone has an idea of what it might be worth can you let me know before I spend any money on it.

Missing is the Rear muffler, Side panels & the front guard support that i can see.
The side panels are impossible to find, the last one that came up on EvilPay fetched $280.00 Replicas are avalaible from Sammy Miller but the cost in pound sterling and the shipping costs are probably more than what you paid for the bike. For some reason NOS seats turn up on EvilBay regulary. The rest looks good. A lick of paint and a new set of spokes will serve her well. Good versions turn up from time to time and fetch 2K or therabouts.
I have the right hand side panel on my 73 and if i could find a reasoanble left side i would see if the guy in Phillip island that does VMX fibre glass and see if i can get them reproduced.

This is a good example showing that it's often a good idea to shop overseas. The below bike is going for $1000us, it's in California which makes shipping to Long Beach as cheap as possible and it's got all of the bells and whistles missing on the above basket case. This bike would owe you 2k tops, landed at your front door....how much would have to be thrown at the basket case just to bring it up to this standard? (No criticism intended on FAT-TOYs TL, it's just coincidence that the bike below came up this morning on the Swapmeet and I figured it'd be a good example of buying from outside the circle.

Top end and gearbox parts (90%) are easy as they interchange with early two piece head 125. I have collected 133cc and 150cc kits with reweighted flywheels to match cheaply so keep the eyes open. Tim754
TL125  aka the Bials... I thought that was the vile stuff you taste after heaving up cheap plonk :(
