YZ Fork Dampener Rod Wrench

My broom handle wrench has worn down so much from rebuilding forks that it is time to buy a new one or build a proper tool.
To build the proper tool I used some 8mm mild steel round bar and a 5/8th nut.
This wrench is to hold the dampener rod while the retaining bolt is torqued up or down.

Some dampener rods have a socket end. Check your manual to see if yours does and what size the socket is.

Cut the round bar to length and notch one end.

Fit the round bar together and hold it in place with a welding magnet.

TIG weld the round bar T handle continuously.

I lathed up an insert which I pressed into the nut and then feed the other end of the 8mm round bar T handle into.

Continuously TIG weld the nut, insert and 8mm round bar.

YZ fork dampener rod wrench cooling.
Total cost of materials $4.00.
Total time of manufacture 1 hour.
I think that the broom handle would have cost about that and it takes me more than 1 hour to get out of Bunnings.

I had to make the same thing for my 85 RM125 forks last week except the RM has a 29 1/2 ish mm hex in it.
