practice tracks in brissie?
« on: August 27, 2008, 08:18:19 pm »
Just wondering if anyone knows of tracks to ride on a weekday or weekend when there isn't a club event on. I used to go up to Tivoli for the odd mid-week ride, but curious to know if there's any other proper MX tracks around.

Cheers

Stanmore is way better than it used to be, it's recently been changed a fair bit. It's 20 bucks for the day.

Maico31, by "way better", do you mean reasonably vintage friendly?

... the 200kph sweeping main straight is gone.
and for the best in my honest opinion; glad to hear it.
I've watched the moderns on a few occasions and the gun riders take that sweeping corner-cum-downhill straight absolutely flat Knacker!
I fully expected to see a tank slapper send someone to God after kissing those big angry trees.
"Whadaya mean it's too loud?! It's a f*ckin' race bike!! That pipe makes it go louder - and look faster!!"

Mainline it's not completely vintage friendly but like evo550 said it's ok for evo/pre '85 bikes. I only ride my modern there and save the vintage stuff for vmx races.

NEWS  Meanwhile, a 39-year-old man from Pimpama, north of Surfers Paradise, died after crash landing during a jump on a motor cross track at Reedy Creek.
Police said he was riding a motorbike on the track at Old Coach Rd about 7pm.

Way too young -Sympathy to his family and friends.  :(
Best is in the West !!

Stanmore is only open weekends for practice.
If there was someone riding there midweek it'll be one of the Pro's holding a riding school.

Gary .... I pass by there every day ( I'm a  local ) and yes it is used only for rider training ..... on the odd ocassion a few club members have a blatt.

No the lease does not run out in October 2010 ... more like terminated.       Stapylton is not set in concrete yet  ;)

Don't know how far you want to travel, but Kenilworth is also an option, open 7 days.
Just pray for no rain.
