I think it was more like one guy asking another if they wanted to sell it. It wasn't advertised .

From what I can gather, these things don't get advertised, they just go to people in the know (with big enough wallets). I've had the privelege of painting and assembling the beast for its owner and the thing is certainly different. At first look, you'd think it was a modified CR, but dig deeper it is completely different. The frame is all Mugen, as is the motor, plastics, wheels, brakes, the Lectron carb with no jets. The whole thing is a really classy bit of gear. I fired it up today and it even sounds evil. I want one.

I'm pretty sure it is the ex Mark Pace bike. I had a 360 Mugen Fox bike a couple of years ago that was really trick, built in the US by the Moto-X Fox Factory but a guy in Melbourne hounded me for it and made me a good offer so he ended up owning it.

Yeah Hoony, apparently it is. I've found a bloke who worked for Honda when it came over so I'm going to get a bit of history on it.

Hey Magoo i remember Pacey racing it at the Mr Mx grand final at Amaroo park in '79. I took some photo's of it which i have here somewhere. If i could scan them and post them i would but i only have a lap top. Mark Pace lives here on the coast and i bump into him every now and then. Would be good to get his story on the bike.

Thanks John, greatly appreciated. It would be interesting to hear Paceys opinion, I'm led to believe he has no interest in bikes at all, especially the old ones.

Yeah you're pretty right. He bought a YZ250f a couple of years ago and started riding again but had a run in with an over the top official at the local track and sold his bike and walked away from the sport again. Too bad, would've been good seeing him racing again. I did ask him once about the Mugen and he didn't think it was fast enough against Gall and Gunters 400's.
