No reserve $3200 NZD equals AUD $2500 cheap I reckon.

I have seen this bike and the kickstarter still makes that new 'clicking' noise, when pulled out to start.Very nice!

Very nice alright 43 but it does have the wrong guards :-X Factor in a pair of new guards will probably set you back around $300 if and when they appear for sale. I jagged a nos '80-'82 front for $10au the other day but I foolishly passed in on a new rear for $36US in the US a few weeks back, was kicking myself I didn't have any spare funds at the time and hoping for a relisting but it didn't happen..bugger  ::)

Hi Doc,thanks for that but I wonder if the gurads were on the Japanese model becuase this bike was on display in a Japanese bike shop for years until it was brought by a collector in NZ.I shall trawl my brochures and another guy I knows collection to get to the bottom of this.
Cheers mate.

If it came from a Jap bike shop then anything is possible as they did sometimes have minor changes ;)

43, sorry mate, not being an ass or pick it to pieces as it's a beauty and personally I wouldn't be selling it if mine ;) anyway the rear guard appears '79 RM80N and the front RM80D/F '83-'86. The T, X and Z shared the same front but only the T and X had the same rear due to the Z being the first Floater.

Thanks Luke

I saw that bike Mario but from memory a bit over priced and I think it got passed in. You'll notice he has a UFO front guard on his recreation, an indication the front guards are not easy to come by. In saying that I just had a look an alpha-sport and they are available and in yellow (about $175au posted). The ones supplied here from Suzuki Aust. or SuziParts are painted that damned poxy silver.

I been thinking about your friends bike too 43, don't want to cause a stir but it seems improbable the front guard fitted is standard when that flared style of guard didn't appear on suzuki's until 1984 (3 models later) The '84 RM yellow is ever so slightly brighter and not quite the same as the earlier jobs, not overly apparent until one takes the time to look. There should also be a small 'Made in Japan' and the part number will be embossed just below this on the inside about an inch up from the bottom, the number should tell the story  ;)

Doc you are correct on that RM.It was advertised twice from memory and passed in.
A bit too much considering not 100 % correct, but people will pay when they really want it.
Everyone has a soft spot for the Mini MXers we grew up with,i know i do.
Cheers.....Mario
