ktm gs 125 motor 86
« on: September 19, 2010, 08:37:02 pm »
Does any one know if an earlier model 84 gs125 will go straight in to 86 frame?

I bought a roller and I want to build it for my brother so I don't care what motor we used providing it fits it is a right hand chain though so we are a bit limited on what we can use, thanks Michael.

Nice score Frosty! I'd be sending that later model front guard off to the salt-mines though!

I believe that all of the case-reed, LHS kick-starter KTM125 motors (83~91, IIRC?) will fit, but really don't know for sure.

I've got an 89 125GS motor in bits. It isn't complete enough to use as a rebuilder (and I want to keep it as spares for my 89) but if there's any bits you need, then just ask.

I also owe you a PM about TS stuff...  :-[

yeah 85-89 would work but if you want to keep it that is fine if I measure my bottom end frame mount can you measure your cases of the 89 just to be sure when I get this going for my brother I can sell his kx80 and the front fender will go of it for sure this will be clean tommorow I can drag the TS stuff out and take a photo of it if you'd like. :)

nice score Frosty,
i'd be tracing the ownership back as far as possible to see if you can't locate the origional motor that way.
cool bike. 8)

Thanks Vandy, I tried to ask the guy that had it if he knew where the motor was but he didn't there was everything else original speedo etc etc but no pipe and motor.

I was hoping he would say the motor was buggered and I could have it even for extra $ but he had got it minus motor so search ended there. :)

That doesnt really help you at all. All you can do is pay $5 to do an online search for it at  http://www.sa.gov.au/subject/Transport,+travel+and+motoring/Motoring/Vehicles+and+registration/Vehicle+registration or

http://www.ezyreg.sa.gov.au/ezyreg/vehicle-check.htm

and find out if there is any interests in the bike. Transport SA wont give you any details of the previous owner to track down missing bits or to talk about the bikes history. Ive been there and tried that by like everything i bet it depends on who strike on the day.

I have an 84 and and 85 125. Looking at yours and also the 86 parts list i would say the 84 motor will fit. changes from the 85 looks like USD forks and disc on the rear.

JDK up in Coff Harbour were wrecking an 84 KTM125. NFI what's left of it (probably everything because they're so expensive).
