If the F guards are the same then Concourse Plastics do them. As good as original.

Oh god, not this again...

V42, You can still get the J+ style front guards from Yamaha - they're fairly similar to the original G/H guards. Fairly cheap too.
You can get 250K+ rear guards from Yamaha too - maybe they fit the earlier 125? Be worth looking into, for a race bike.

VMX Plastics/Concourse Parts are/were planning on doing G/H plastics. You can join me in holding me breath for them, if you want...

I'll play.

If you're serious of course you'll buy these ones http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMAHA-1980-YZ-125-G-N-O-S-SIDE-PLATES-VERY-RARE_W0QQitemZ130365754186QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item1e5a678b4a

I do like the finish on the Maier guards, which I got off US ebay.

Also available through Les at  http://www.vmxunlimited.com/shop/yamaha/yamaha-1980-1986/yamaha-y-80-86.html

XYZ -  http://x-tremevintageyz.com/

there's also this guy, though you might want to search the threads for feedback http://www.vmxracing.com/vmx-main.htm he has an ebay store too.

I did buy DC side covers and front number plate and regret it (nothing against local supplier). They may be good for Queenslanders as they're bent like a banana but these are yet to even see the sun. the RHS's not too bad, Oh but the LHS also keeps popping off the front grommet. Also had to redrill the holes. Someone burn them before I go mad!

I'll play too as I've learnt a bit more recently  ;)

XYZ are excellent finish and fit, but only do 250/465 G/H.
Maiers may fit better on the 125 than they do on the 250/465 (terrible).  Finish is pretty good.
VMX racing everyone seems to think are selling Maiers.

Do Maiers do side covers for these beasts ?? (I haven't got as far as researching the 125H yet)

Shame the NOS ones are yellow  :'(
Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible

Hey get a Woody,  you get a heat gun and heat the plastic where it doesnt fit and then hold it in place with something till it  8)s down . You may have to experiment a little but it will fix it!!!. You'll be amaized what you can do with a heat gun.

I have a brand new XYZ tank sitting here for a YZ250G, to be honest I think the quality is pretty poor. if someone wants it for a race bike - make me an offer ,I have asked for my money back, but i just keep getting the run around from them
FFS why wont someone make good quality plastic for 1980-81 YZ's ?? How hard can it be

Les at vmx unlimited said the maier ones have a better finish but the DC ones tend to fit better.

Tony, what sort of trouble did you have with your sidecovers?

Ted, are you happy with your 125H DC plastics, good fit & finish?

Based on the dramas that Scott's had with the repro YZ-D/E tanks: Bloody hard.

He's been persistng for at least three years now...

Here here Kev.  Surely it can't be that hard.  I'm thinking of starting a syndicate - there has got to be a market.  How much you thinking for the tank mate ?  Can you sand it or something to make it better - what is wrong with it ?

Nobody that I have seen makes decent plastics for these beasties - haven't tried for the 125 yet.
Finish on DC is average at best.
