Gees, you found that quick! Any PE stuff I want usually takes 2 or more years to find.
That’s a pretty good starting point.

I don’t know how exact you are going to make it but to make the forks more like RS forks I would removc the air fork caps and fit DR/SP non air fork caps with the flat black rubber caps.

Thanks again for all the info and links, gentlemen.
I've got spare DR forks here, so I can nick the caps off them.
The hard part might be the swingarm.
It's steel and apparently very much like RM100 but longer.
Might be just as easy to track one down in the U.S. and hope it fits the PE frame.  :-\

You've given me another idea with this RS thread. Since I seem to build models suzuki never made (e.g.  PE80B, GTS185K, K15MX, TM50R) I'm going to build a 1980 RS100T ;D just need the frame to kick things off ;)

Suzuki did make a DS100 and even a DS250 I think.  ???
Or was that just the U.S. designation for our TS ER's?

yeah, they did make the DS series Tony, basically the same deal as the PE vrs RS. The DS was a lesser version of the TS without all the bells and whistles (actually an improvement over the regular TS :D). I don't want the mellow detuned DS traily version, I want to build the full on RM100T powered item based on the RM. When I put together my DS80 recently I decided it could be designated a PE as it's closer to an RM than the DS. Upon reflection it should be designated an RS80 as thats' essentially what it is when I think about it ;) An RS100 big brother makes perfect sense and will help turn some dusty ol' parts into something a little more useful ;)



now the 80 is all but complete I'll get to work and tart it up somewhat, new seat cover, re-plate the plated items, connect lights and speedo..all the little things that seem to take forever when building things that don't exist ::)

Can anyone tell me why the RS (and we'll just leave those initials alone) was ever built? I think I remember the same thoughts popping into my head nearly thirty years ago. I mean they had the PE, and the RM. What's it's purpose?  ???

The RS was built as a 'playbike'. A fairly cheap bike that could 'do it all'. According to a Dirt Bike mag from the time, it was capable of trailriding, enduro if you added a speedo and even novice level motocross.

Personally I believe Suzuki has always had the best spares backup of any Japanese marque and I also personally believe, whilst there may have been a market for playbikes they had more bleeding spares than they knew what to do with and this seemed an ideal way to get rid of them..unfortunately the business logic may have been correct but in practical terms no-one wanted them ::) I like these obscure models for the simple fact they remind me of my bikes..a piece from here and a piece from there..so long as it's all Suzuki and it bolts together it's all good :D

The swing arm is specific to the RS but i would say it started off as a early RM or PE one with something added or removed to suit the RS. I have found a lot more pictures but it will take a while to get them on here. There is also a sales ad of the 250 and 175 splashing through water, but im not sure i have a large version of that one.
