Yamaha DT400 Monoshock
« on: January 14, 2010, 09:17:04 pm »
G'day Yammie fans, was talking to a mate in NSW the other night, and he was reminiscing about his old DT (first monoshock model). Seemed to think that they are a bit thin on the ground these days? Are they hard to come by in reasonable condition?......and what sort of money would you be looking at.
Any ideas.

You know, it's funny how some bikes were as popular as but you don't see them anymore.

For example, I see any number of SP370s around, even saw one riding around town the other day, yet back in 1978 there just weren't that many on the road. But PE175Ns, there were truckloads. And DT400Ds everywhere. Never see em nowadays. Where'd they all go?

Nice bike for a big heavy old traillie, but not all that special really, so I doubt one would be worth much. I'd pay maybe $1000-$1500 for one in good nick...

i dont know why but i would really like one of those monoshock dt400s,as you say theres nothing really special about them but a registered one could be really good fun on the road, commuter etc.

Yeah, they were alright - I had a 250 and all my mates had 400s. I know what they were like to ride and sure, they are OK. But I still don't see them as anything special. That said, it'd be neat to have a DT400 in nice roadworthy condition. I'd be happy with an old green tank DT360 too!

FWIW, I have an exhaust pipe for a monoshock DT400. Reasonable ~ good nick - had a bit of a repair to the header section in the past, IIRC.
Free to a good home.
