Powder coated rims

Hi all,
I'm contemplating powder coating some DID rims for a build I'm doing. Talking to some experts in the area of anodizing DID rims don't anodize  particularly well as they are prone to cracking on their consolidated joint so satin black here we go! Has anyone gone down this road before?

I have got TT500 DID rims annodized  before and they are now like brand new. Cracking at the weld will most likely have been there before annodizing and just so fine you dont notice it or y7ou have welded the cracked join and then it comes back cracked after annodizing. I do not think anndodizing in it self will cause a weld to crack if its never been cracked  or repaired/fiddled with before hand. Most reports from guys having powder coating done to rims usually say, its ok but next time they would just go with annodizing or get new rims.

I powercoated a set of YZ rims in Satin Black and they were great i raced that bike for 3 years and they were still as good when i sold it,
Cheap option to replacing you can even leave the spokes in if they are starting to rust.

Hey fatboy, are you saying that you can leave the wheel assembled and get the whole thing powder coated?
btw, did you get the 550 stuff?

I left the spokes and hub intact just removed the tyre and sandblasted the lot and powdercoated the lot satin black It looked trick I had a lot of comments on the wheels and the coat didnt chip or crack like you would think on spokes.I went from having shitty old rims with rusted spokes to wheels that looked brand new.
I did receive the 550 stuff thanks it will come in very handy.I am taking the first step on Wednesday night and seeing if I can get the old girl going. Once I get the motor running I am going to pull it to bits and start fixing things I will start with the forks just sitting in my shed has leaked all the oil out of them, I have a few sets of Late IT forks which I think I will add some gold valves and new seals. I am still considering if I can put a smaller tanks on, any ideas?
I think I will definatley powdercoat the XT rims.

max when you get it done make sure that they don`t coat the inside of the rim as it makes it slipper and the tyre can spin easier.
