Check your vin it should say KX500BE- if the number is that low it is 1985 they started at 000001 and finish at 001800 before 86 started

My KX500 only had the 'E' on the engine number.

i.e. Frame Number KX500A-_ _ _  and Engine number KX500AE-_ _ _

Maybe later models were different though.
