Does anyone have or know of a yamaha TT/XT fork microfiche/parts book?

I picked up a set of non leading axle forks and want to check out what is missing. They didn't come with springs so where can i source some (yss maybe?). They also had the brake backing plate lug ground off, can these be welded back on or are there any other good ideas?

Also can you use say a YZ tls hub with the TT forks? Have seen some on HL's but figured they were YZ forks.

The TLS is not a straight swap into all Yammy forks. The TLS backing plate is a little wider (the casting protrudes about 10mm more at the axle - I haven't checked but I think it allows the connecting rod clearance pass the fork leg - the wheels might have more offset to center them but I haven't checked) and fit in a wide range of later model forks but won't fit the earlier 34's and 36mm's without some fiddling.

Playing mix and match with wheels and forks can be fiddly ::) :P :-[.

The welding and replacing springs is achievable but unless you have some particular reason to persist with these forks I would ditch them and try for something more complete and functional - it will probably be cheaper ;) :).

Thanks mx250, i have been trying to get some 35mm betors or ceriani's but unless they come from the states there is little hope.

What are they fitting into? Are you doing a NOS resto or just getting a race bike functional? Are you doing it to 'meet the rules' or just to get it up and moving? Do they have to be straight or can they be leading axle?

Yamaha has 3 variations on the backing plate TLS has the brake lug at the wrong angle for early forks. As they have already had the backing plate lug butchered I would bin them and find a lower fork leg in good condition and the appropriate brake plate.

Don't laugh now, knocking up a DR370 to cover Dirt track, vmx & vinduro. RUn it in evo class as a bargain basement never have to work on, other than set it up for whatever is on that weekend. I thought the TT non leading axle front end would do for DT? A bit more US style FT but that's how i like em.

Nothing wrong with the original forks as they are the same as on my DR500 so should perform ok (for my speed) on the vmx/vinduro track with less weight behind them. %00's engine is sweet but the rest of it should be binned. Got the 370 thinking i could drop the 500 into it but not allot of thinking went into it. ha ha. Put it this way at least i'll be the only one with a DR370 at the meets.  :D

why not get busy in the RM parts bin, this is well trodden path to DR/SP nirvanna. Its screaming for RM400 swingarm, forks and tank/seat I would say, all easy to find and cheap.

whack some DG stickers on it and you have real race bike.
