rm125 trick question.
« on: October 19, 2009, 06:44:39 pm »
Can anybody tell me why the RM125 of 1982-83 has a full reed cage engine and the 1985-6 bike has the same barrel as the 1981 .ie piston port and reed? then they reverted to full cage reed forever. I want to build up a motor and want to gain good HP . I am tempted by the full reed motor but still curious as to why they changed back for 3 years?
If in doubt ,WIND IT OUT

They switched around a bit began with the power reed in 81 , went full reed then back to power reed in 84 IIRC. The legend goes that Suzuki switched back to the power reed and it made better HP, the truth is the cylinders are different.I don't think anyone knows why unless you can find tests etc  from the day.
