CZ / CZ numbers???
« on: July 05, 2022, 11:15:20 pm »
Hi all,

I've just picked up a 1975 CZ250 Falta as a father and son project for me and my aging dad to spend some time on.
I hoping someone can assist with what model number I should be using when chasing parts.
Is it a 513? is it a 980?  These are just some of the numbers i see listed against CZ250's.
Is there some way to tell what model mine is?

Thanks
Tim

Husqvarna / Chain roller tensioner wr240 1981
« on: May 17, 2018, 02:03:38 pm »
Guys,
Just realised my wr240 didn’t have a chain roller tensioner...it’s gone, long before I bought the bike.

I have found another one but have noticed it fouls on a tag bracket adjacent to it so mustn’t be for this model.

Question, should the spring roller lay back, under spring pressure, onto the swing arm when the chain is not fitted?

Does anyone have a photo to help me?

Thanks ????

Husqvarna / chasing 1981 Husky wr240/250 38mm fork slder
« on: June 24, 2017, 09:26:29 am »
Hi guys,

I managed to break a 38mm fork slider at the recent Yass VTR vinduro after an altercation with a tree.

If anyone has a spare floating around id greatly appreciate it, I'm in Newcastle.

I'm chasing the ones with made in Sweden on the the strengthening rib.

Hoping those who may have upgraded to 40mm forks may have bits still kicking around in the corner of the shed.

Happy to pay cash or beer..

Tech Talk / '84 honda xr250 rear linkage wear
« on: February 14, 2017, 06:19:41 pm »
Hi guys, forgive me if this has been asked before...

I'm putting together a 84 xr250 for my 16yo son to ride in VTR events this year now that he is a senior.

Trouble is that the rear shock linkage is stuffed.

It looks to be a rubber covered bush and I'm having trouble finding a new one.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? If I've got to buy a kit to do the whole lot I'm happy to do so.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Honda / XR350 Muffler options, can you help?
« on: April 11, 2014, 12:07:51 pm »
Guys,
I'm building an '83 XR350 for heaven racing and need to replace the buggered muffler, header pipe looks ok.

Any ideas on what fits? eg xr250 '97, etc

I have looked on both the Staintune and the Barrett exhaust web sites but can only spot units that fit '97 models for both 250, 400 & 650's.

I'm hoping a 250 version might fit or I can look at bastardising something else.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if you guys have seen this but plenty of period bikes and gear!

Enjoy!

Honda / XR 350 build
« on: June 28, 2013, 05:01:05 am »
Guys, can you help me?

I'm embarking on a project bike to race in the new year in the Heaven 250+ 4 Stroke class.

I found an abandoned but complete '83 XR350 in a famers shed in Dubbo that was just screaming out to be brought back to life.

It's a roughie but it's all there.

Just wondering if you can assist with some details that may assist me.

I want to 'CR' it up a bit so 'original' is gone!

Was the XR 350 based on a 500 frame or a 250 version? Or are they all the same anyway?
What paint code / colour is the mid 80's CR Red frame colour?
Will the frame take 84 CR 250 forks & triple clamp to give me a disc brake?
Are the header pipes and exhaust the same (as they look the same) size diameter / length as an XR250? I'm looking at running an '86 Staintune system off the shelf. They look like they were the same for quite a few years.
Do the CR plastics of the day (83-86) fit with a little persuasion? Is any year better than another?

Thanks guys that will get me started

I'll start a little build thread to keep those who are interested up on my progress.

I couldn't help myself with the XR, those guys / girls in the 4 stroke class look like they are having too much fun.
I did try and go euro after some coaxing from our mate Husaberg Pete but couldn't come up with a likely project base (my KTM 504 is a money pit!!) that was going to be able to get me racing on my shoestring budget.

Thanks guys, stay tuned, thanks for your assistance ;)

KTM / KTM GS250 fuel infrastructure issues......
« on: April 01, 2013, 08:38:35 pm »
Gents,

As usual, I'm getting my bike ready for next weekends Heaven season opener a little late.

It has (last season) had an issue with the bike creeping on the line with the clutch in, no problem I thought...drop the oil, refill with ATF, a few practice starts on the back lawn and bob's your mothers brother!

Changed oil, all ok...looked a strange colour but thats gone now.

Now for the practice starts.... kick, kick,...... f'n kick kick...not a sausage. ???

Fuel in the carb bowl...yes, looks crappy though. Rinse it out, refit bowl.

Lets go for fresh fuel....pull the fuel hose and at least make sure the go juice is getting to the carb....dry!

Pull the fuel tap apart... all gunked up...yeah, a reason why it wouldn't start. Clean up tap, whack it back in, refill the tank.......

Here's where the trouble began... :o

Fuel starts to pour out of my freshly serviced fuel tap from every crack and crevice. Fuel also starts to drip incesently from the fuel bowl 'seal'.

Question 1, where can I get / what should I use to seal the carb bowl on my '83 model Bing carb?
Question 2, what is the go with these fuel taps once they are pulled apart? They look serviceable with the screws etc to enable them to come apart.
Is there anything I can put through the tap to get it to stop leaking? Is there a repalcement available to suit those Acerbis tanks?

Any help you can offer me at this panicy stage would be greatly appreciated.

Wanted / KTM with Rotax 600 cc ...bits needed
« on: March 12, 2010, 08:32:43 pm »
I have stumbled across an '83 KTM600GS ?? Rotax powered thingy.

It's missing some bits and I'm not getting far in trying to find them.

I'm missing all of the engine mounting bolts, the exhaust system, the air box, the rear brake lever and the 2 rocker covers (to start with)

I'm onto a brake lever of an '84 KTM MX500 are they the same?

Any help and direction would be greatly appreciated

regards Tim
