Tech Talk / Suzuki RL250 lower fork offset
« on: March 01, 2020, 11:37:36 AM »
I'm on the bludge again.
To try and work out if the forks on my RL are useable I need to try and find the offset from the centreline of the forks to the centre line of the axle. Just a couple of mm makes a very big difference in how the bike handles and turns. I figure I have a few options
1 If someone can measure the offset very accurately, and it's not easy
2 Someone can loan me a lower fork leg so I can measure it. Happy to pay post both ways (obviously) and even a cash deposit
3 I bite the bullet and buy a set of forks

Vinduro / Rides in QLD, NSW
« on: February 18, 2020, 03:36:17 PM »
I’m hoping to head to Wagga in the next few months, Mar, April, May.

I’ll be driving from Darwin via QLD-NSW then back the same way.

I’d like to put together a list of events so I can work out what and if I can attend some of them.
I’m looking for vintage trail rides, vintage enduros and/or organised trail rides for modern bikes. I’m looking at bringing my Suzuki PE250B and my KTM Freeride.
The ultimate would be a two day event on a weekend and another two weeks later so I can ride, see family, ride again and go home.

General Discussion / When it's too good to be true
« on: September 21, 2019, 05:19:19 PM »
I've bought a bit of bike gear online from what seems to be clearing houses and got some really good deals.

However the last one did seem to be taking things to the limit but I figured what the hell, I've done well so far so I'll try this one.

Bad move. I haven't lost much but it's still annoying.

I found all the reviews online after I'd paid $110.

it can then do a trip to Alice Springs and I can get it to Darwin from there

Tech Talk / Suzuki PE250B needle jet series
« on: December 08, 2018, 04:26:48 PM »
Carburator question.
On the Suzuki PE250B the needle jets is listed as a Q-0. I have a Q-2 and want to change back. What I don't know is what series of jet I need. The manual doesn't mention what series and I don't know who changed the jet or if they used the same series as the original

Any help appreciated

General Discussion / Postage and freight
« on: August 06, 2018, 07:58:38 PM »
I have a few parts for sale on here and in a PE facebook group.

Several people have been in touch and asked for a discount on the price as post is so expensive.

My answer is that when people and businesses in other states start giving me a discount to offset freight, I'll do the same.

Tech Talk / Tires
« on: August 05, 2018, 09:15:21 PM »
I used to run Bridgestone 403/404 tires in the hot, dry, rock and sand we have the pleasure of riding in.
I always found them to be fairly sure footed but they're not made any more.

The replacement seems to be the Bridgestone X40. Has anyone used them? how do they compare the older tires

I'm really after a tire that is compliant in the sidewalls. I run Trials tires on my Freeride and love them and have considered running a trials tire on the back but I'd rather have a knobby for our wet season rather than changing tires for the seasons.

I'm looking for tires for my PE250B, not for racing but for trail riding, vintage trail rides and Vinduros eventually.

For Sale / Suzuki PE400T parts
« on: July 27, 2018, 12:21:16 PM »
I have the following for sale from a PE400T
Front wheel, good rim and spokes (some light rust) includes brakes, axle and spacers.
Has a crap tire fitted which I'm happy to remove

Rear wheel, Good rim and spokes (light rust on some) includes brake, brake pedal and cable, cush drive/ sprocket carrier, axle, spacers and adjusters
Has crap tire which I'm happy to remove
$120 or $200 for both

Frame, bare frame with tank rubbers, both footpegs, front engine plates. NO STAND or bracket

Guards, usable for racing/riding. Rear scratched, front has crease near exhaust

Fuel tank, has a leak under the back of the tunnel where someone has done a repair. I'm told it's common to flip PE's and the exhaust will bend and hit the tank. That's what this looks like.
I've put 3-4L of fuel in it and left it on it's side for a week each side with not splits. Not cap but has tap
Take your chances, $50

If you're keen you can have the lot for $250

All parts in Darwin, will pack and ship. Post at your expense

Suzuki / PE250B internal pipe baffle
« on: March 24, 2018, 07:13:06 PM »
I've got a 250B and the internal baffle in the chamber has been removed.
I understand they take the edge off the noise and spread the power a bit. I don't want a fast fire breathing animal so I'd like to put a baffle back in as strange as it may sound.

Would anyone know the diameter of the hole in the original baffle?

Suzuki / PE250B clutch cable run
« on: March 03, 2018, 05:06:32 PM »
Dies anyone know where the clutch cable is supposed to run on a 250B?

So far I can see it goes outside of the pipe but dies it go the left or right of the speedo bracket or through the hole in the middle?
