Kawasaki / 1983 (i THINK kdx200)
« on: March 16, 2016, 03:38:02 pm »
hello all, my son was given whats left of a KDX 200 which is in bad shape. he wants to fix it up, so any bits and pieces you have and are willing to sell would be greatly appreciated. - the plastics and tanks are not usable so these would be needed. the seat cover is gone off the top of the seat but the sides still have the 200 logo on the side of the seat. I am guessing this makes it a 1983?

Yamaha / YAMAHOP
« on: July 14, 2010, 10:41:21 am »
has anyone fitted gold valves to a monoshock? and possibly compound springs. I am bent on fixing the handling of my 465. The other day i went riding with my son and took the 465 down a dirt road which had some bumps in it, i could manage possibly 70 kph before hospital loomed into mind , then i took my sons kx250F down the same road and was flat out in 5th in full control, so with all the ponies i got in the 465 i can only use half of them due to the handling and brick type rear suspension. I would really like to hear if anyone has "fixed" the dreaded rear monoshock and I am keen to see if there are dual springs (soft + harder) that i could fit to soak the square lips but still take the bigger jumps???

Tech Talk / yz / it 465 kickstarter
« on: June 15, 2010, 10:14:40 am »
has anyone replaced the kickstart return spring only to find that the gear hardly messhes when you try to kick it? I have to give it a sharp fast prod to get the kickstarter gear to mesh. The work shop manual says if the spring is too stiff or too weak it wont mesh properly. I bought an original from yamaha Morrooka and put that in, and now its doing this? any tips or things i might have done wrong

KTM / 495 kick starter
« on: April 01, 2010, 03:53:00 pm »
thinkin bout starting the resotration of my 83 495 in the next few months but I keep looking at that 6 inch kick starter and thinking there must be a better way to start the damn thing. Has anyone seen a longer kick start lever for these things. The compression is huge and the kick starter really short...

Anyone know if this could be done? it was an IT465 and still has the complianc plate on the head stem.  still have all the lights and switches etc and was wondering if i could put it together with the old spark arrestor and road going tyres and maybe get rego? the idea is to remove most of the crap once its done and be able to fang around the state forrest trails?? would i need a battery for the blinkers? The items i dont have are : blinks mirror battery and tooter and rear light with number plate mount. any other things I might need?

General Discussion / muffler wool
« on: August 05, 2008, 03:43:35 pm »
I think it may have been covered before but I am looking for a different packing to what I have been getting at Team moto i think its MCS brand, perforated mat/blanket type packing. The problem is that it tends to "melt" out the resin and it creates a hard shell on the surface that is wrapped around the perforated tube, then the muffler then stops muffling. Also the holes in my dg muffler tube are about 2 to 3mm diametre and i find that the carbon sticks or melts onto the blanket that is next to the hole and it stops muffling. I think I need to drill bigger holes and try some other wool or muffling medium, anyone got any hints on other successful muffling materials. I know i should not be pissing around with the bike this close to Conondale but I have already pulled out the perforated tube and need to use something better this time around.
