Honda / CR480 Mugen Kit Interest?

Thinking about selling my NOS ME480 kit. I know the pre-1981 stuff is really sought after, but is there very much interest in these kits?  Which sites would work best for posting it?

Yamaha / YZ Clutch Cover on DT1-RT1 cases

I think someone gave me the answer here years ago, but as with a lot of things I forgot.  Will the YZ A-B clutch covers fit on the DT1-RT1 cases?

KTM / Mounting a Mikuni carb on my 75 KTM 250

Anyone have problems making this conversion?  I will use a 34mm Mikuni and trim the intake manifold 15-20mm.  Any jetting specs?

Bike Talk / Pre-75 MX 250?

I know these questions are subjective, but I just want some feedback. 

I have been thinning the herd recently and it will continue, but I do plan to always have at least one pre-75 250 motocross bike.  Here in the U.S. we are permitted to run some 1975 bikes in our version of pre-75, with some rear suspension mods. Currently I still have a 1974 Ossa Phantom, a 1975 Bultaco Pursang 250 and a 1975 KTM 250MX.  The Pursang is race ready, but the other two will need to be some work to get out on the track.  Should I keep one of these three or sell them all and pick up another pre-75 model? 

There are just so many good pre-75 250 MXers to choose from.

Honda / CR480 slight backfire

I started my 1983 CR480 up after 11 months and both times it started I got a slight backfire before it fired up a few kicks after that.  Seemed to run fine after starting up, but should I check the timing?

Yamaha / Making TT500 Roadworthy

I am thinking about picking up a '77 TT500 and I would justify the purchase by trying to make it street legal (Street-Tracker look).  Anyone here converted the TT500's to street lighting (it has front lamp now) and a rear brake light setup?

Yamaha / 1977 vs 1978 YZ Frames

All the test articles mention the added chromoly in the 1978 YZ frames, but how much lighter and stronger are they versus the 1977 frames? 

I am assuming they used 70's "Japanese Chromoly".

I was thinking last night, after reading a bunch of old test article, about which bikes ('72-'81) had the least amount of negatives?  One article praised my favorite bike of all-time ('77 RM125B) as having very few flaws and it made me think that this is what we really want from an "Old Bike". 

I think that is why I loved racing my '81 Can-Am MX-6B.  The handling is a little quirking over jumps and the forks need some setup work, but other than being a little ugly, she has been a great bike to own and race! She came stock will Sun rims, an aluminum swingarm with Ohlins shocks and a motor that is reliable and does not need any hopping up.  What more could you ask for?

What are your votes for some of the best off the showroom floor VMXers?

Bike Talk / Best Pre-78 250's

I am sure this has been asked before, but I could not find it using the search button. 

I have a Pre-78 125 (RM125b) and a Pre-78 Open Bike (YZ400d) and I think I want a 250.  Which bikes from the list of Pre-78 250 MXers are the best?  I think there are a bunch that are good, but could you please rank them for different rider levels (Beg/Nov, Int, Exp)?

Bike Talk / Dream Five

Lotto in the U.S. is $1.4 billion, so after I bought my ticket I started thinking about the many ways to spend it.  When I finally got around to Old Bikes I wondered what 5 bikes would I buy first, if I could buy any of them I wanted.  Here is my Dream Five:

1. Roger DeCoster's 1976 RN370 (400?)
2. David Bailey's 1985 RC500
3. Johnny Omara's 1979 Mugen ME125 (air-cooled)
4. Brad Lackey's 1982 RN500
5. Darrell Schultz's 1982 RC480 (500?)

All factory bikes, go figure. :-)  The only privateer bikes I would have considered are Rex Staten's 1975 USGP hole-shotting CZ400 and Marty Moates' 1980 USGP winning LOP YZ465.  I have not won yet and I am already an MX bike snob. LOL

What is the ideal stinger diameter for a 360 Motocrosser (RT-1 thru 360MX)?  How does length effect the power?
