Vinduro / The Black Duck Returns!
« on: August 17, 2022, 10:12:43 pm »
The next event on the VERi calendar is the Black Duck Vinduro at Campbelltown on Sunday 11 September.

Some of you might remember the original Black Duck Vinduro that was held at the same location 14 years ago.

The notorious gully section, and Fitzy drowning his Maico in a dam are still talked about around campfires to this day.

The course will start from the same bush property as 2008. The first 3km is freshly cut single trail. From there, the course takes riders along fairly well maintained bush tracks, then through a section that's been used for wood cutting and is a little more challenging. After that, it's more easy trails back to the start area with a short bit of the infamous gully thrown in. Total distance has not yet been finalised.

This is an easy ride suited to older bikes, so bring out those 1970s models you've been hiding!

Camping is available at the venue:
  • $10 per person per night
  • Portable toilets on site (no showers etc)
  • Bring your own everything
  • Space is limited so park sensibly

All bikes must be pre 1988 models, not too noisy and registered (full/rec/CPS). VERi does not accept unregistered vehicle permits.

Online entry will open soon via the VERi website.

Vinduro / Second A3VE back on track in 2021!
« on: February 21, 2021, 02:04:50 pm »
Media release:

Following the success of the first Australian Three-Day Vintage Enduro (A3VE) in 2019, the Vintage Enduro Riders Inc (VERi) are excited to announce the second running of the event will go ahead in 2021 (after being postponed in 2020).

The dates to mark down on your calendar for the 2021 A3VE are 6 – 9 May. The event returns to the Wombat State Forest around Blackwood, located 50 kilometres west of Melbourne in Victoria.

Around one hundred entrants took part in the first A3VE, and VERi is expecting even more eager riders will take up the challenge this year. Competitors will race for glory on the same tracks used in the first edition, but with some exciting new trails and special tests added for this year's event.

There are competitive classes for bikes from early pioneer days to pre-1988, riders under 40 years old, and women riders.

A non-competitive Rally class is also available for anyone wanting to get the time-card enduro experience without the pressure of timed special tests.

"Having to postpone the A3VE due to the Coronavirus last year was disappointing," according to VERi club secretary, Peter Drakeford.

"So, we're very excited to see the high level of interest for the rescheduled event. There's been a flood of enquiries, including a huge amount of interest from interstate riders. Many new converts to the sport are preparing bikes just for this event too.

The variety of interesting and challenging terrain makes this an unmissable event, and as Peter Drakeford points out, "We were really well received and welcomed by the local community in 2019, and we can't wait to get back to Blackwood again.

Entries are now open, go to the VERi website for details.

COVID-19 and the A3VE
  • VERi will liaise with Motorcycling Australia to ensure that the 2021 A3VE is conducted as safely as possible.
  • A COVID-Safe officer, David White, has been appointed for the event.
  • State and national government COVID-19 guidelines and regulations will be followed at all times
  • Any entrants that are unable to attend due to COVID-19 issues will receive a full refund of their entry fee.

Vinduro / 2020 VERi events
« on: May 07, 2020, 10:33:31 pm »
Our planned calendar for 2020 has been thrown into disarray due to COVID-19 social restrictions. However we are hoping to produce a new calendar for 2020 as soon as social restrictions are lifted enough to allow.

We have a few events that could still be run this year, and we will announce the events and dates as soon as we can confirm them.

Stay tuned for announcements.

Vinduro / 2020 Wandong Vinduro - Sunday 29 March
« on: February 19, 2020, 10:41:15 pm »
Our first event for the year is the Wandong Vinduro on 29 March 2020. It's also the first time we've had a vinduro at this location.

The event will be held on a private property ride with 450 acres of fantastic bush.

There'll be lots of single track, making it a great opportunity for special test practice for those racing at the A3VE in May.

No rego is needed for this event, bikes should have headlight and tail light (not necessarily working).

You will need to purchase a MA one event recreation licence, unless you have an annual MA racing or recreation licence.

More details and online entry is available on the VERi website now: http://www.verivinduro.com.au/110/wandong-into-the-woods-entry

See you there!

Competition / 2019 Australian 3 Day Vintage Enduro
« on: December 01, 2018, 11:43:48 am »
Read the latest (updated) info about the 2019 Australian 3 Day Vintage Enduro (A3VE) below:

Our aim: To run a vintage friendly event suitable for older bikes and riders, to determine the best in class through special tests and the ability to maintain an old motorcycle and ride to predetermined time schedule between checkpoints.

The Course: Limitless trails. Interesting but not intimidating. Talk to someone who rode the recent Blackwood Vinduro, this loop will be loop 1 Day 1 – the riders loved it. This event will consist of four different loops of approximately 50km that will take you into all the different zones of the diverse Wombat forest. You will ride through fern gullies with deep black soil, crest hills with stunted dry bush that appears almost Alpine, skate over rocky trails worn in by miners from 100 years ago, travel under thick overgrown tracks with moss covered ruts, pass through wet rainforest glades with trees as tall as the eye can see, ease down the red clay rutted Power Line track, dodge around puddles that could still have a 4WD buried just under the water, roost around pristine grass track special tests on private land and then catch your breath on the well maintained forest gravel roads. We aim for you entrants to have a great time and enjoy your riding. We know you will love all the great trails we have found for you. Yes, there will be challenges but also parts where you can just click through the gears and cruise. We will be setting times that are right for the average rider, so they won’t have to go silly to stay inside their 60-minute late allowance. But in the special tests – go nuts!

This event is a competitive Vintage Enduro, featuring the following classes:
* V1 Pre-1976; all capacities, all ages.
* V2 Pre-1980; all capacities, three separate age groups
* V3 Pre-1984; all capacities, three separate age groups
* V4 Pre-1988; all capacities, three separate age groups
* VW Women’s class, all capacities, all ages, any pre-1988 motorcycle
* VR Rally Class (non-competitive), any pre-1988 motorcycle (not scored at the Special Tests)

Awards: Gold, Silver and Bronze medals for V1, V2, V3 & V4 riders within 10% (gold) and 25% (silver) of the fastest rider’s time in that class and age group; and for bronze within 60 minutes late. About 100 km of vintage friendly trail on days 1,2 & 3, with a Day 3 final grass track moto. One grass track (Cross) special test and a bush (Enduro) test per loop

Competition classes: Refuel is at the Parc Ferme. If your bike won’t make 50 km provision will be made to take a fuel container out to the Special Tests which are about half way around the loops. Flip card timing at controls as well as digital clocks and special test timing with Richard Gates company (AORC, A4DE etc). There will be an Interstate 4-man Trophy Team Award and 3-man Club Team Award.

Rally class: Rally riders pay half the Expert entry and can nominate to ride 1, 2 or 3 days. Finishers medal only if riders complete all 3 days without houring out. Rally Riders do not ride the special and diversions will be in place around the trickier parts of the course.

Identification: Expert riders red number plate backgrounds, white numbers. Rally riders yellow, black numbers. Classes/age groups will be identified by number and letter.

Timetable:
Thursday: scrutineering and sign in, sound check etc. Impound/Parc Ferme open to take bikes. Closed 5pm.

Sunday: Start time 9am. Riders cover two loops of 50 km (depending on the weather) and the Final Moto on top of that. The event finishes at the Final MX.
