Tech Talk / tuning specs
« on: May 16, 2018, 10:23:30 am »
Would anyone have tuning specs for a 34mm Mikuni fitted to an Ossa Phantom engine? Engine is used in a track bike not on the dirt. I'm having trouble tuning it  in the lower revs- it blubbers and is reluctant to pull cleanly till the revs increase, then it clears itself and pulls well.

For Sale / Yankee Z
« on: September 16, 2017, 02:54:28 pm »
I've a Yankee Z for sale. This bike presents like new. Not a concourse restoration but rather a nut and bolt rebuild. If you know your Ossa's you would have heard of Keith Lynas. The engine was rebuilt by him,it's never been started. Bike can be inspected by arrangement. Probably too good to flog thru the dirt as it's immaculate. Like the Fischer I have  it would probably suit a collector. The only other Yankee I've only ever seen for sale was on Ebay and it sold for $8500.00,this bike is better than that one.  I will only consider offers above the one sold on Ebay. Engine alone cost 5500USD to have built. There are very few of these bikes in Oz so this is an opportunity to own one.  I would guarantee the engine to be like new. PM me with any questions.. No trades/swaps. cheers Lew.

For Sale / road bike
« on: September 10, 2017, 04:33:51 pm »
Hi all, I've got a very collectable motorcycle for sale. It's a Fischer MRX(google it). One of 30 everbuilt. Comes with a few new parts to bring it up to 100% original. 8000Ks on the clock. If sold in Victoria will come with RWC and rego. Due to how rare these bikes are it would suit a collector tho it could be ridden daily. Would suit a person taller than myself. I'm around 5'6"--165cm and it's a bit of a stretch to reach the bars. Parts are readily available from the states at realistic prices due to the fact that most Fischer owners don't use their bikes often,if at all. PM me with questions about the bike. Not interested in trades/swaps.

General Discussion / Yamaha MX 500 Prototype
« on: March 05, 2017, 02:52:14 pm »
I've been offered a Yamaha MX500 that the seller claims is a prototype and one of 15 ever built. It's a complete runner that was raced and put away in a shed for quite a few years. I've trawled thru the internet but all I can find is the SC500 model. Anyone out there shed any light as to the authenticity of this bike. Search using the engine number comes up zero on any Yamaha site, not one bit of information other than peoples opinions on it. So did they actually make 15 of these and how are they identified? Seller certainly appears to be  knowledgeable and says all they right things but I just can get any info anywhere. Ok Yamaha experts what's the general thoughts on this bike.True or BS? If it is genuine any ideas of value? Need a total rebuild as it's complete but rough.

selling up so I've got 2 Ossa's for sale. 1     4 speed Stiletto-non runner
1     Desert Phantom. Currently has a MX motor fitted that will be removed and I can offer a 5 speed Pioneer motor to go back in. I won't be fitting it. Done with the bikes. 6 grand for both. No haggling--bring a trailer and cash. Got other ossa parts but these will not be included in the offer. bring more cash if you want these. No dumb questions, no best offers, don't ask why the Stiletto isn't running.

Spaniards (Bultaco, Ossa, Montesa etc) / Ossa madness
« on: August 25, 2015, 06:38:36 am »
Murray G from Perth. What's happened? You don't reply to my emails. I miss our chats and also your advice on all things Ossa. At least(if nothing else)let me know what the problem is. I'd like to send over a few pics of "that"bike. It's almost finished and looking a million dollars(won't ever be shown on the forum).Get back to me please even if it's to tell me what an arsehole I am( and what's upset the cart) Surely it wasn't you that emailed me,offering me an Ossa Wildfire a while back. One thing tho that I do have is a set of good Wildfire forks and front brake. You mentioned you've considered building a replica so there's a start. These don't turn up every day

For Sale / parts for sale
« on: August 14, 2015, 04:36:35 pm »
hi folks,I'm in Bendigo  and still have a ton of parts(nothing specific but rather various brand stuff),so if you're near by or up to a drive you're welcome to browse thru. I won't post any photos (too much stuff). On offer is suspension stuff(springs, shocks and parts for Ohlins-Marzocchi mono shocks NOS)a few frames, wheels, forks, electrics and engine parts. most of the MX stuff is gone but still have road and trail bike parts. Some very hard to find amongst it all. All will go for a sensible price or even better if you're a swap meet site holder take away the lot!!!!! price would be negotiable. I want it gone. PM me if interested but don't ask if I have a specific item,I wouldn't have a clue. As previously stated, you need to look.

General Discussion / vintage MX outfit
« on: March 15, 2015, 12:57:38 pm »
Hi all, would anybody know of the whereabouts of a vintage MX outfit. Last known  to be in the Echuca area quite a few years back. Was powered by a side valve Indian motor and the stand out feature was that it had a steel 4 spoke 19" rearwheel. May have been chopped up years ago but it never hurts to ask. If this bike does still exist the original owner wants to purchase it and restore it for his private collection/museum. cheers Lewis.

For Sale / parts
« on: February 12, 2015, 05:50:34 pm »
Hi all,I've recently acquired a ton of stuff NOS--used .Plastics, gasket kits-motor bits-wheels etc. If you live within traveling distance from Bendigo it just be worthwhile having a look. Unless you can identify the part it would be wise to bring the part you're looking for and try to match it up. Please don't email me asking if a have a particular part, you need to find it(if I've got it). Certainly worth a look as you never know what will turn up-I just may have that "hard to find"part.
                                                                                               cheers Lewis.

General Discussion / IKON shocks
« on: December 22, 2014, 11:18:34 am »
Hi all,has any one else had an "interesting" experience with IKON? I purchased a pair of their top of the range rear shocks for my Ossa Stiletto and before they'd even seen a bump they were weeping oil.I ring them on the Friday and was spoken to by a very nice person and it was all sorted so I thought. Monday I'm waiting for a courier to pick the shocks and as I also had other things to do I ring them up for a time(if they knew) when the pick up may be. Different person and what a reception!! Absolutely no help what so ever so I ask to speak with Geoff the manager. Wouldn't allow me and the reply was "what would Geoff tell you that I haven't? "Look just send them back and we'll give you a refund!" Ok I say a refund will be just fine. I'm a bit annoyed as I try to buy the Australian product and when trying to sort out a simple problem get spoken to in a less the friendly manner. Never again will I be buying IKON. Hope you read this Geoff. I'd be interested in hearing  what you have to say.
